Nope. Thompson and Edgar never went to jail.
Can you comprehend how utterly demoralizing politics is in the great state of Illinois? Can’t even blame the Dems completely as the last gov. was a Republ. crook.

They should save time and read them their rights while their swearing them in!
They don't call Chicago "Crook County" for nothing. IL is like a Third World banana republic: Bribery is considered normal.
What is that for Illinois? Five governors in a row gone to jail?
No!
Jim Edgar (predecessor to George Ryan) did NOT go to jail. Please, check it out.
Only two, before Ryan we had Thombson and Edgar, Reps. Then there was Dan Walker (d) who went to the can, before him Ogilvie (R), then briefly Sam Skinner (d), who finished Otto Kerner's (D) term when he got sent up. And this clown is going to get sent up for selling the President elect's Senate seat, to the President elect's long term mentor. The President elect is clueless, of course, no one would even ask the question.
It's government is corrupt. It's no secret. Just like most government officials at all levels nowadays.
They've been compromised and corrupted.
The U.S. now has upwards of 10 million government employees at all levels, and most states can't even perform simple tasks such as balance a simple check book.
Years ago Chicago was corrupt, but a lot of the state was OK. What on earth has happened?
