Ping.
Thanks Kruss - defeatism seems to grow like cancer on some older FReepers...another after effect of the Clinton era I guess, huh?
If this is going to be a sticking point for the next few years, then why not just produce the BC? He was supposed to be a uniter.
I can't just overlook the Constitution because others want to. That's anarchy. Bill Clinton lied under oath in front of the whole world and no one seems to care. He may end up ambassador of the world or something. For me, he will always be a perjurer that got away with breaking the law. Obama can never get my confidence if he won't even do the simplest thing to bring us together. We can argue over different policies, but I can't even recognize him as president at this rate.
No, he is not our President.
George W. Bush is President of the United States of America.
I did read on a non-government site something about how the U.S. recognition of dual citizenship had changed in the last ten years, so perhaps in 1961, it wasn’t recognized. But it’s hard to believe that Osama Sr. would have been prevented from exercising his parental right to take the child to Kenya if he so chose. In that case, I cannot believe the U.S. would have prevented him and said it was because Osama Sr. did not give UK allegiance to his son at birth.
Here’s the site: http://www.uscitizenship.info/citizenship-library-dual.htm
And here’s the text:
4. I heard that the US and Canada don’t allow Dual Citizenship. Is this true?
This is incorrect. Both the US and Canada now allow their citizens to hold multiple citizenships. Most references to the contrary are out of date since this has been resolved for at least ten years in the case of the United States and over twenty in the case of Canada. Note that the respective governments often couch dual citizenship in negative terms as few governments like to lose control over their citizens.
So, according to my lights, the distilled question can be stated this way:
In 1961, would the United States government consider a child born in Hawaii of an American mother and a UK subject to have dual citizenship?
What might be helpful to the cause is if a lot of people were to pose this question to their local office of the State Department in their respective cities. I’m in Boston, so I can do it here.
What do you all think? Where are you located? Are you willing to pose this question — in writing or in person — in order to further the effort to arrive at an understanding of the true circumstances of Obama’s citizenship?
Let’s do it! Or do you see a flaw in my “magic question”?
All this “evidence the BC is fake” business does is confuse people on the fact that there ISN”T a birth certificate. It’s the Certificate of Live Birth that got dragged over hot coals. No one has seen Obama’s birth certificate. If they had, this issue would be over.
I just groan inside when I see articles like this. This is why people don’t understand the issue.
Actually my real father gave me, my last name and heritage to my Dad. I have no serious relationship with my real father, who has always lived within 45 minutes of me, my brother and sister. There is no animus. We are very different persons and my self view is at variance with his description of me. The friction is not worth the time.
My Dad, who adopted me, lives 1600 miles from me and since his divorce from my mother he has been a constant guide and father one aspires to emulate. Our relationship is very close and he always been generous with his love.
It is my Dad who has been there all my life whose feelings I would not hurt(you would call him Stepfather but, we don’t think that way. He is Dad, period.)
NII is all you could normally receive until a few years ago. Some states have loosened the restrictions and a little more information is available.
Your history and amended BC are another example of the adoption process, name change and amended BC.
Sorry to hear about the results of your search.
Thank you for your support of our discussion.
Where it not for my own history of adoption I probably would not have thought a thing about this as to anyone else it is very complicated.
I just can’t help but think his eligibility is fishy.
I’ve noticed that many of these people, both new signups and year old or so signups, are really concerned about “looking” funny. Their main argument, apart from “move on...” [and where have we heard those words before, hmm?] - runs along these lines:
“We will look like kooks, we will be branded as lunatics, poeople will think we are fringe fanatics, etcetcetc.”
Punctuated with a few “it’s hopeless anyway so give up”.
Really concerned about how other people - like leftists, RINOs and the MSM - will view us. Of course, by “us” and “we” they don’t mean them, since they want the 0bama BC thing to stay as it is.
IMO these people are trolls and are posting merely to disrupt. There are really a lot of them.
Well, as I understand from him, his wife, several sources representing him and I believe in one of his books, it is represented that he was adopted by his stepfather.
Being adopted in Indonesia does disqualify him.
You are correct and the Founders of this great Nation were worried about the same and more. Yet they persisted with much more at stake.
I am not concerned with looking funny as the conflict for me is to close to my history and mirrors Obama’s.
Without this issue I would just go back to being partisan and fighting for my ideas and trying diminish his.
Thank you. In my viewpoint, worrying about what people think of me is the very last on the list of things to worry about. Actually, it’s not even on the list.
Truth, justice, and other eternal virtues are what’s important.
No one will even bring up Obama BC until 5 years after he is out. Then they will marvel at how he was able to get by with a farce with all the "scrutiny" he received. In the meantime, some people can't even wiggle their toes in a restroom stall without the full weight of the public opinion on them. Just think, we almost had to endure a congressman that was caught with $90k of marked bills in his freezer. He only lost the election by a few percentage points. Try to imagine the spectacle of him winning and fighting for years to "clear" his name.
I can almost here an a$$clown pundit like David Gergin saying "Shocking, just shocking".
HI, this may seem like a dumb question:
Does this not conflict with the presidental requirements? in the Constitution? Don’t they have to amend the Constitution in this regard?
Just asking.
“I just cant help but think his eligibility is fishy.”
I agree. BTW - My wife is adopted also. She didn’t find out until she was in her mid 30s, at the same time she was working in vital records at the state DOH. We found her birth family by other means than seeing her original BC. She always said it was a temptation to attempt to bypass the security measures and try to see her original. But respect for the law (and fear) kept her from trying.
Her amended BC still shows her place of birth, the physician, etc. It just has her adoptive parents names substituted.
Perhaps you ought to learn that it’s always best to spell correctly when attempting to engage others in an intelligent conversation. That said, perhaps you might want to consider stepping away from your computer and going back to playing with the toys in your crib.
There are very few things more important to FReepers than defending the United States Constitution.
your wifes BC just proves my point. Upon adoption your BC is altered/ammended to reflect new parentage. The difference between me and Obama here, is that I was present before the judge involved in my adoption.
I was asked if this is what I wanted and several other questions. During this event I learned about reading anything you sign. My Dad was looking at the paperwork that would complete the process and I asked the judge what he was doing. He said that my Dad was a very smart man ( something like that) and he was reviewing our adoption papers, as all people should do.
From that I learned to always review any document my signature will go on and to take my time doing so. One of the many lessons I learned from my Dad.
