NY Times Gives Another Platform to Unrepentant Ex-Terrorist Ayers
Boycott The New York Times ^ | December 8, 2008 | Don Feder

Posted on 12/08/2008 1:31:05 PM PST by AIM Freeper

The New York Times provided yet another op-ed platform to its favorite former terrorist, ex-Weatherman and Obama pal William Ayers.

“The Real Bill Ayers,” published on December 6, is sickeningly dishonest and so easily refuted that no newspaper that adhered to even minimal standards of journalism would run it. So, naturally, it was published in The New York Times.

In his opinion piece, Ayers tried to rationalize his terrorist activities in the Weather Underground and minimize the resulting carnage.

Thus, Ayers wrote: “I never killed or injured anyone.” The Weather Underground only placed “several small bombs in empty buildings.” And, my favorite, “The Weather Underground crossed the lines of legality, of propriety and perhaps even of common sense.” This is like saying Pol Pot may have been overly enthusiastic in re-ordering Cambodian society in the 1970s.

Here’s what Ayers forgot to mention:

* He says the Weather Underground was created after a bomb exploded in Greenwich Village, taking the lives of “three of our comrades.” The bomb was intended for an upcoming dance at Ft. Dix, where it could have killed hundreds of soldiers.

* In the Weathermen’s “Days of Rage,” (Chicago, 1969), 300 of the Marxist storm troopers attacked police and the public, and destroyed millions of dollars of property through arson and vandalism.

* The organization, of which Ayers was the co-founder, planted 30 bombs, and was responsible for bombings of the New York City police headquarters, the Capitol and the Pentagon. In a 2001 commentary (also in The Times) Ayers wrote, “I feel we didn’t do enough.”

* The Weathermen Underground was a self-proclaimed revolutionary communist organization.

* One policeman died in the Police headquarters bombing. A bank guard and two policemen were murdered in the course of a Weatherman bank robbery. There were hundreds of injuries resulting from the terrorism of Ayers and his buddies, including a U.S. Attorney who was paralyzed for life.

* In the op-ed, Ayers claims he was demonized during the 2008 campaign, in an effort to smear Barack Obama. In fact, Ayers and Obama’s relationship was a legitimate issue. Either Obama is incredibly dense or he didn’t care about the bloody trail Ayers and Co. cut across the 60s’ and 70s’

Just as Ayers refuses to take responsibility for his terrorist acts, The Times won’t take responsibility for publishing his pack of lies.

Ayers is what he was thirty-five years ago: an inept, inane, cowardly Marxist revolutionary. These people don’t seem to change.

If I were a relative of any of his murder victims I would hunt this SOB to the ends of the earth. Ayers is unfit to leave a carbon footprint.

Try, try again.

What’s the difference between Timothy McVeigh and Bill Ayers? Body count.

The MSM hid Ayers through out the election, but now they have time to glorify him?

And not one media outlet has asked “The Fresh Prince of Bill Ayers” a single question about their relationship...

Maybe they should worry about how to pay their new sub-prime mortgage. On the other hand, this will speed their inevitable death, so I say “more Bill Ayers!”.

What he is saying that he only placed his light weight explosive devices to make a show and incite others to do the nastier deed of actually killing people. He even encouraged fellow misfits to kill their parents. His rhetoric at the time told a much different story. At the time he and Dohrn were movement icons whose names were used in fiery speeches by campus radicals across the nation and abroad.

You're right about all of this - and about the part of being "once scum, always scum". You've got his number.

... Unrepentant Ex-Terrorist Ayers ...

If the vociferously unrepentant Ayers/Dorn couple were TERRORISTs then it stands to reason that they are STILL TERRORISTs! Nothing 'Ex' about them, they just got a cushy academic and foundation jobs and live in an upscale neighborhood. At best they are post-tantrum radicals in that they foist a straw-dog of a politician to destroy the nation rather than plant a bomb to destroy people and property!

“What’s the difference between Timothy McVeigh and Bill Ayers? Body count.”

The differences are many. Tim McVeigh served his country honorably during the first Gulf War and wanted to become part of special forces. Ayers hated America and professed his goal to help the North Vietnamese kill Americans. Tim McVeigh was probably innocent but was made a scapegoat by the Clinton Administration that did not want to pursue the real bombers. Tim McVeigh was executed. Ayers was “guilty as hell and free as a bird”. As for the body count, Ayers and Dohrn were involved in a lot more murders than they now admit. The Oklahoma bombers were just more competent than Ayers. If Ayers’ many nail bombs and shrapnel bombs had been successful he would have had a much higher body count.

I thought this happened AFTER the Days of Rage which was in October of 1969, which is why I have always held the view that it was erroreous (deliberately so) to refer to this terrorist group as "1960s" in nature, they lasted the full decade of the 1970s (their final known crime being in the 1980s) and they barely existed as the WU in the 1960s (being formed from the SDS in the final months of the final year of the decade).

I wouldn't try to argue that Timothy McVeigh is innocent but I think the case can be made that the Clinton Administration wanted a pretty package and didn't want to follow all of the leads in this case. They may have let some participants go rather than getting sidetracked into an international incident. John Doe Number 2 may have been Middle Eastern. Witnesses were told he just didn't exist.

The 1st WTC attack happened early in the Clinton administration. They shrugged it off as a criminal act.

They used tanks on US soil against a citizen on a ranch and got the public angry. A year later is the OKC bombing.

The Clinton Administration turned the criticism of the Clinton Administration into an act of treason. If you were "anti-government" (anti-big socialist government), you were part of a Vast Right-Wing Conspiracy that listened to Right Wing Hate Talk radio, like Timothy McVeigh.

Why bring Islamic terrorists into this?

The US embassies in Africa were also bombed but I guess the GG Liddy and Rush Limbaugh couldn't be blamed for that.

in 1994, Bill Clinton seemed like a one term president but then they successfully rallied back after the OKC bombing.

It is possible that there was a coverup of international ties in the bombing but I wouldn't say that Timothy McVeigh was innocent.

“I wouldn't try to argue that Timothy McVeigh is innocent”

After he left the Army McVeigh was unemployed and out of money. McVeigh left Buffalo NY with no money and toured the country for almost two years, staying in motels, eating in restaurants and driving long distances. He also sent money home to his parents. Where did McVeigh get the money?
Terry Nichols was bankrupt but he flew to the Philippines and stayed in hotels for several weeks and was seen with Al Quida operative Youssef Ramzi(who planned the 1993 WTC bombing).
Witnesses saw groups of men rent the Ryder truck and drive the truck into the Murrah building parking lot. Only one of these men (John Doe 2) was identified by the media.
Authorities originally said that middle eastern terrorists were responsible for the bombing. The Clinton Administration then blamed McVeigh and accused conservatives, talk radio, etc of being responsible. There is a lot more evidence that makes me believe McVeigh was innocent and set up by the actual bombers and/or the Clinton Administration.

"former terrorist"?

Nonsense.

Bill Ayers is a TERRORIST!

And that's that!

There is no such thing as a "former felon".

There is no such thing as a "former terrorist".
