American Jews are solidly social liberals. They are fine with gay marriage and abortion on demand. During the summer, it looked like McCain would make significant inroads with Jews. However that went up in smoke when Palin came along. Social conservatives scare the heck out of American Jews.

It is always suspicious when someone points a finger and says “A Jew did it”.

Perhaps everything in the story is correct, but the suspect’s religion is immaterial as he does not represent all Jews, only himself.

Ronald Reagan sold missiles to the Iranians, but I don’t think we should be pointing fingers at Presbyterians.

There were other discussions in the thread about which religions voted for which candidate, which is also silly. Obama won by more than 7%, which far exceeds the number of Jews in this country. For comparison sake, polls in Israel favored McCain. Arguably, the large spread was due to the fact that many conservatives just stayed home as Republican turn out was not as high as predicted.

So please, avoid pointing a finger to say “A Jew did this or a Jew did that”. It is a pointless argument.

How many Catholics are there in North Carolina? I am sure NC went for McCain. My point is the survey is never taken with people who are walking out after a Sunday mass. Many of these people are “Catholic” because their grandmother was Catholic ...or maybe it was their Great grandfather.

Was that taken after a church service or did they just ask the man on the street?

When I posted yesterday I thought this was a thread about voting and the election but I see that some of the people here have other issues, no thanks.

North Carolina went for Obama, largely due to the influx of voters from New York and New Jersey (and a high black turnout).

If white Catholics voted like white Mormons or white Baptists, Rhode Island, New Jersey, Connecticut and Massholechusetts would be solidly Republican states.

I suspect the majority of those who actually attend a weekly service voted like the Baptists, Mormons etc. I am also sure a few voted for Obama just like any other church. I would like to know who took the poll, how did they determine who was a Catholic and what is their own position on abortion. Then it might mean something. Most of these polls are used to discourage or influence others.
