That's the attitude that got us into trouble and will keep us there. Take out "Congress". Put in "the American People". Take out "a helping hand". Put in "what this country needs for moral and civil strength and probity and for prosperity". Maybe we'd do better.
Whoever composed this prayer thinks that "Congress" can save his butt. Wrong. God can save his butt spiritually. And the people in the congregation can save theirs if they straighten out their act.
I read this and I get worried all over again about this country.

Perhaps we should excuse these people for taking the Lord’s name in vain. Or should they be praying for billions of our dollars to fund their bankrupt business for a few more months, at the expense of us and our children?
