Questions keep coming up about how visitors can connect with Metrorail to come into DC for the inauguration and inaugural parade.
The powers that be continue to talk about the possibility of upwards of 5 million people showing up. Notice that Metro's record is short of carrying 1 million on a single day.
This article may be of interest to those Freepers, or their family members, or friends, who actually want to come here in January to "see" this event.
I live here within walking distance of a Metrorail station. I'm watching it on TV!

I think the best bet is to catch the Metro to a station about a mile or two away and hoof it from there. If you try to get off at L’Efant Plaza or Smithsonian, you probably will not be able to get out of the train.

I live in Huntsville, AL. North Central Alabama. Population of the Metro area around 350K.
A friend told me last week that many of the black churches are planning bus caravans to the event. I imagine the same is true across the south. BTW, my friend has no desire to go and thinks the whole thing rather stupid.

I have no desire to watch that on TV, much less travel there to see the crowning of The One.

I’ve heard USA Network is having an NCIS Marathon that day. I’m stocking up on popcorn.

The escalator at Rosslyn is the steepest one I've ever been on. They expect people to walk the stairs there?

Why would anyone here want to see the thing get inaugutated in person or on TV?

I hope they shut down Rosslyn!
I live VERY close to a Metro Station. Any car that blocks our driveway - even slightly - is going to be towed.

History repeats it self. This will be a repeat of the Obama supporters when they were in the Super-dome in New Orleans after a patch of rough weather.

I can't believe any "REAL" Freepers would subject themselves to this dog and pony show unless they have latent masochistic tendencies.
I refuse to even watch it on TV,though I will tune in occasionally just in case there is some sort of chaos.
