Dorgan Won't Be Energy Secretary (Schwarzenegger under consideration for Obama cabinet)

Dorgan Won't Be Energy Secretary

Sen. Byron Dorgan is no longer under consideration to be secretary of energy in President-elect Barack Obama's administration, a decision based on a belief within the former Illinois Senator's inner circle that the North Dakota Democrat is more valuable to them where he is, according to transition officials.

"Senator Dorgan would be a fantastic Energy Secretary but because he is too important as a red state senator and a powerful ally, he is best suited to help advance President-elect Obama's agenda in the Senate," said a transition official granted anonymity to speak candidly about internal deliberations.

The names still in the mix for Energy Secretary, according to well informed senior Democrats include: Govs. Kathleen Sebelius (D-Kans.), Arnold Schwarzenegger (R-Calif.), Bill Rittter (D-Colo.) and Jennifer Granholm (D-Mich.), Sen. Jeff Bingaman (N.M), Google's Dan Reicher, Duke Energy CEO Jim Rogers, former Edison International CEO John Bryson, Federal Express Chairman Fred Smith and Steve Chu, the director of the Lawrence Berkeley National Laboratory.

Wait a second, so he will consider Arnold, who screwed up my home state for energy secretary but he won’t conisider Sarah Palin, who knows energy like the back of her hand. Figures, Obama wouldn’t want Sarah to steal his spotlight

This could be from Comedy Central for all the sense it makes. Arnold is a dismal failure in California. He’s as bad as the schmuck we recalled. We traded one moron for another which means he will fit in with the other morons: Pelosi, Reid, Feinstein, Boxer and the rest of America’s pathetic, power-hungry, corrupt human waste in DC and elsewhere taking up space in state offices. Welcome to the new Third-World country that used to be called America.

I don’t want them in Massachusetts anymore! Appoint as many Kennedy’s as you want to, and don’t forget to also appoint Deval Patrick to something, O Great One.

There are some potential benefits here:

Pick Dorgan and the reddest state to have 2 blue senators probably gets a red one. I don't know whether Gov. Hoeven would get to pick one, with or without a party limitation, or whether there'd be an election, but the result likely would be an improvement over either Dorgan or Conrad. If Hoeven can pick a GOP replacement he's just been re-elected to his third 4 year term by a landslide, a ND first, so he can afford what ever political hit he'd take for a party switch.

Pick Arnold and the Cal. GOP can start blaming his flawed policies on his pro-Obama tendencies. Plus, by promoting Lt. Gov. Garamendi (D) the Cal. Dems won't have any GOP left to blame for the state of their state.

In fact almost all of these nominees could be counted on to keep us on the road to more and more energy dependence.

But then the Republicans have contributed to that also and consistently except for finally waking up on drilling in areas that displease the worshipers of the earth rather than continue to listen to irrational environmental nuttiness.

“Arnold is a dismal failure in California. He’s as bad as the schmuck we recalled.”

Actually, Arnold is worse. At least Gray Davis had the sense not to run us into the poorhouse.

Don’t blame me.. I voted for McClintock.
