How to lower expectations:
1. It’s only going to get worse.
2. We have no idea what to do.

Anyone calculate the “misery index” lately? I'm sure it's still in the single digits and nowhere near where it was during the Carter years. Obama is just painting this as bleak as he can in order to make us accept his draconian “solutions”.

This trash talking the economy will only make things worse. What happened to HOPE?

Its great he’s taking the blame for it already. Now the Lefties can’t blame it on Bush without some blowback.

Yes, and if you think about how mob rule led to the election of an affirmative action empty suit so that George Soros could buy in the country at cheap prices its difficult to see how it won’t take quite awhile for things to get better.

This recession is an excellent time for the MSM to go to a ‘’news reader’’ format like they do in England. They could save a lot of money on salarys. No need for a ditzy babe with a stain on her dress being paid millions to eff up the news.

The economy cannot fundamentally improve until government spending and the size of government are greatly reduced.
Obama, Pelosi, and Reid fully intend to expand government spending at all levels to consolidate and increase their political power, regardless of the negative impacts on the citizens they supposedly serve.
The idea that 536 elected politicians, regardless of party, can make better economic decisions than the 140 million Americans in the workforce (whose efforts are responsible for the productivity of the United States) is laughable on its face. (See Adam Smith's The Wealth of Nations)
Given the current high state of leverage in our economy, expansion of the size of government and government spending is going to have significant, immediate, and lasting negative effects on our economy.

What happened to all of that “hope”? I don’t think the Obama voters will be happy if they don’t get their “hope”! He must already know that all of his polices will make everything much worse? *sarcasm*

And if they expect taxpayers to help in that adjustment process, then they can't keep on putting off the kinds of changes that they frankly should have made 20 or 30 years ago. If they want to survive, then they better start building a fuel-efficient car. And if they want to survive, they've got to recognize that the auto market is not going to be as large as some of their rosy scenarios that they put forward over the last several years. They have to do what "we" tell them to do... make over priced or undersized fuel efficient cars that people don't want to buy. That's a plan for success. $1.70 a gallon gas, who needs a piss-ant prius type scooter-mobile anyway?

The next 4 years Obama will make sure Bush and republicans own this economic situation we're in now and why would Americans have any doubt it's not true? I have not seen Bush out there telling Americans how we got here. The majority of those who voted for Obama didn't even know the democrats controlled congress since 2006.
Even worse, while we stood behind Bush's WMD and the Iraqi war he threw us under the bus by going on TV and practically stated that he regrets going into Iraq for the reasons stated.
What's next? Will Bush go on TV and state that his policies destroyed the US economy just to be 'Mr. Nice Guy'?

If you look at the unemployment numbers that came out yesterday, if you think about almost 2 million jobs lost so far, if you think about the fragility of the financial system and the fact that it is now a global financial system so that what happens in Thailand or Russia can have an impact here, and obviously what happens on Wall Street has an impact worldwide, when you think about the structural problems that we already had in the economy before the financial crisis, this is a big problem, and it's going to get worse, That's alot of words for a lead in to state the obvious. Did ya ever notice his choice of words in any interview is meant to run out the clock to minimize any chance of being pinned down on something?

This simply cannot be.
Everyone knows the bad economy was 100% the fault of the Republicans, and once The One was elected, all of our problems would melt away, leaving nothing but cotton candy and rainbows.
I know this to be true, because the democrats and the mass media told me so.
