NEW ORLEANS -- Voters in Louisiana sent two Republicans to Congress Saturday, ousting indicted Democratic U.S. Rep. William Jefferson in one race and narrowly keeping a seat vacated by a retiring incumbent in the other.
In the 2nd Congressional District, which includes most of New Orleans, Republican attorney Anh "Joseph" Cao won 50% of the vote to Rep. Jefferson's 47% and will become the first Vietnamese-American in Congress. His only previous political experience was an unsuccessful 2007 bid for a seat in the state legislature.

Good riddance.
Don Young, you’re next. Primary his ass out of there!!
I guess he didn’t spread enough of that cold cash around.
Well more than just his cash is feeling cold today.
No trial date has been set?! What gives?
I hear the Jefferson is going to become a lobbyist for the commercial freezer industry.
Glad no one took me up on my $10 bet. I thought Jefferson would be reelected from a prison cell...

dims NEVER face justice... where have you been?
LLS
racism naturally.
As much as it’s nice he didn’t win, it’s still scary that voters came out to vote for him at a tune of 47%. I wonder what % of blacks voted for the Republican?
Praise God!!
Great news to right a wrong. Sad thing is that 47% voted for Wm. Jefferson.
You’ve got that right! :-)
Naturally the democrat attorney general will launch a vigorous prosecution of Jeffersons criminal activities. BWAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA
I agree with you Ozark. I am from Louisiana and I thought that he was going to win also. All of the Louisiana liberal politcos were spewing all over the wires and TV yesterday, that Jefferson was going to pull this off once again. At last those folks down in New Orleans did something right. My grandson left home from here in central La, a conservative...and after spending 4 years down there, going to college, he turned into a flaming liberal. He has chosen to remain in his favorite city. He did admit that he would not vote for Jefferson. He also had a wall size poster in his appartment of Obama, with the words HOPE across the top.

Just a guess, but probably about the same %age as voted for McCain...
