PRIME MINISTER HARPER PARTICIPATES IN TREES FOR TROOPS
Provides an additional 35 minutes of free phone time for overseas Canadian Forces personnel
CFB PETAWAWA The families of Canadian Forces Personnel serving overseas will be receiving Christmas trees thanks to a generous donation from the Canadian Christmas Tree Growers Association.
Nothing sustains the morale of our brave men and women in uniform more than the knowledge that the people back home appreciate the often difficult and dangerous work they do for us, said Prime Minister Stephen Harper who participated in the Trees for Troops event. This is a genuinely kind gesture of support for our military families that says thank you for the sacrifices you and your loved ones make on behalf of our country.
Under the Trees for Troops program, approximately 1,500 military families are accepting the offer of a free Christmas tree. Trees are handed out at Canadian Forces Bases throughout Canada, including Petawawa where 400 local families received trees.
Prime Minister Harper also announced that the Government of Canada would make it easier for overseas Canadian Forces personnel to call home over the holidays. Each member of the Canadian forces would receive a phone card worth 35 minutes of extra international phone time.
The Christmas season is a difficult time for our troops and their families, said the Prime Minister. Every little thing we do counts. I would urge all Canadians to do what they can to support the military families who will be spending Christmas apart from their loved ones. Something as simple as a card, a cup of Christmas cheer, or an invitation to dinner will go a long way to easing their loneliness and expressing our gratitude for all they and their families do.

Hi fanfan....
For goodness sake, I am not on your ping list. Could you please rectify this?! Thanks!

I added you just now.
Merry Christmas.

LOL, now that’s a Christmas tree!
Thanks Sandy!
Very pretty!
You’re welcome.
Thought it would be liked.
That is a very nice thing to do for y’alls soldiers.
Well done cousins.
Thank you for your service.

If you haven’t done so yet, you might want to look around on youtube. There’s some vids posted there of your Canadian Warfighters in action.
From what I’ve seen in the vids, and from words I hear from Marines that have worked with Canadian Soldiers in Afghanistan, your Soldiers are very aggressive in attacking the enemy.
I’ve not heard one comment about Canadian Forces playing the “caveat” games.
I don’t have direct experience in working with Canadian Military, but from what I can see, and from what I am told, your Soldiers are a good hybrid mix of the British formal discipline and the American easy at adapting to the enemy.
It is well known that US Marines can be a bit hyper critical about other military outfits, ours or other nations.
I’ve heard nothing but good from Marines in regard to Canadian Forces.
Thanks Grimmy.
A Canadian still holds the current record for the longest Assassins kill shot in military history, in Afghanistan a couple of years ago.
