The Ohio Supreme Court has ordered officials to throw out 1,000 provisional ballots that had been improperly filled out by voters in a tight congressional race.
The court on Friday struck down Secretary of State Jennifer Brunner's directive saying such votes should be counted.
Voters had improperly filled out the outer envelope on the disputed ballots. The ballots were among about 27,000 yet to be counted in the undecided 15th district congressional race between Republican Steve Stivers and Democrat Mary Jo Kilroy.
The decision allows voting officials to count the remaining provisional ballots.
A spokesman for Brunner says the office was reviewing the ruling. A spokesman for Kilroy says the court has disenfranchised more than 1,000 eligible voters.

A little bit of good news in Ohio.
Funny, it’s only DIMs that get “disenfranchised”. Barf-O-Rama.
I think some of these “disenfranchised voters” should be incarcerated.
This is good news.
Brunner needs to go. When’s her term up?
Not to worry Franken’s on his way to Columbus to pick ‘em up.........
“Whens her term up?”
2010.
I dunno, 1k out of 26,000 provisionals allowed in? I’d want to know exactly what, if anything, was done to clear up the issue that caused a provisional vote in the first place.
Good news. I’ve been watching this loooonnnngggggg election night in Ohio. Kilroy does not deserve the seat, and this may keep her out of it.
Someday I hope to see the marxist American left choke on that word.
Improperly filled out? What, had the ‘R’s marked?
Facetiousness aside, if anyone disenfranchised those voters, it was themselves. How hard is it to follow the rules on a ballot?
I mean something had to wrong versus the inside envelope.
You would probably have to disinter most of them first.
The outside of the envelope has all your personal information: name, DOB, address, reason for voting provisionally, etc.. Inside the sealed envelope is your ballot. If the outside doesn't pass muster, for example, you are not registered at all in a state that requires pre-election day registration, then the envelope is never even opened and the ballot inside it is never even seen.
Provisional ballots can prevent a lot of mess-ups for people who think that they have registered, but whose name is not on the list in the precinct where they show up to vote. If you vote provisionally in a precinct not your own, then the local election races are not counted; only those that are common to both precincts, like US Senator.
Thanks. Time to get her opponent out and campaigning. Brunner’s got to go!
The George Soros Organization, more commonly known as SPECTRE, targeted the insignificant office of Secretary of State and poured millions of dollars to install their chose zelots into these offices. The Secretary of State of Ohio was one of these targeted positions and the Soros Organization (read SPECTRE) installed someone who would ignore the law, ignore the Constitution, and pervert our democratic institution in order to advance their demonic cause.
People like her make you regret that we abolished burning at the stake as a form of punishment. Oh how she deserves that sort of a fate.
A Democrap “Secretary of State” who does NOT believe in following the law - of course she won’t face any gruesome trial-by-fire in the media, whereas a R. Secretary of State in FL, Katherine Harris, faced such a horrendous s##t-storm from the Mediascum in 2000, simply for following the law.
The dishonest double-standards of the Mediascum could not be more obvious.
You be. My hero!
Court overruled the Democrat Sec of State.
Rare.
That that a democrat Sec of States tries her (illegal) best to get democrat ballots couinted by as many (dead, illegal, un-registered) democrats as possiblem but that a judge ruled properly.
(That judge must have been appointed by a repubbie.)
thanks... can’t wait!
