President-elect Barack Obama has kept a relatively low profile as automakers plead for billions from Congress, but behind the scenes, the incoming administration is working hard on finding ways to ease the crisis. Rep. Barney Frank said today that Congress is likely to pass "something" that would give automakers assistance.

Tax dollars bailing out the Auto Industry after they gave hundreds of Millions to the Democrats is ethically wrong. Imagine if the Republicans/Bush had petiotioned to bail out the Oil Industry...
What a specimen.
Quit abusing the Breaking News sidebar.
0be; voting present since he resigned his Senate seat.
“Congress is likely to pass “something” that would give automakers assistance”
Right, as long as ACORN gets a chunk of it.
I rarely have positive things to say about any elected officials, but if only ALL of our legislators would vote PRESENT like Obama on every piece of legislation, they would do much less damage to the economy and to what’s left of our freedoms.
He's the Chauncey Gardner of modern politics.
It’s above his pay grade.
Precisely what we don't need. Congress can't run it's own show, let alone another one. The only option that should be on the table is bankruptcy and reorganization. Saying that the auto industry will disappear if they don't bail them out is fear-mongering, plus a lot of BS. The auto industry can only get back on its feet if it is allowed to start over, including all organized labor contracts. Congress has no right in law to give our tax money to private companies, let alone seeking to control them.
NO MORE BAILOUTS!!
60% of Americans are against the bailout. Obama doesn’t care about anything buy making himself look good. He wants to be loved.
Well, either we help the auto industry along so that they can complete much of the union cost transition to the unions as is planned by 2012, iirc, or we have them fold now so the FEDs can pick up the federally insured union obligations. I say we keep the auto makers going.
I think your right congress will pass a bail out, too many of them are in bed with the unions, plus a lot of them got money from the big 3 for their political campaigns, this three act play going on is just for show... I doubt many of them could change a tire, let along run a car company..
Nah...he’s just trying to figure out how to vote “present”...
Nope. A simple chapter 11 will fix a lot of this.
Heard Rush a few minutes this morning; a car dealer said the three CEO’s were not honest (I’m stunned) and that they responded what the Sens. wanted to hear - that they were gearing up to produce green cars.
The dealer said that hardly anyone wants green cars; the cash registers are ringing from sales of ordinary gas engine family cars and SUV’s.
I hope the “plan” includes large parking areas for the unbought green cars that Congress directs should be built; you know, the Lada’s and Volga’s from Russia, with a Red Star on each one.
The payout to UAW will be the prompt passage of universal health care.
Hell yeah. They (Congress) should all go home for, oh, about 12 years. Just go home and don’t do anything. The rest of us will survive JUST FINE.
