Trevor Loudon has got hold of a fascinating analysis of Prez-elect Obama’s administrative appointments by Mark Rudd and Jeff Jones, two former Weather Underground terrorists (chums of Obama’s old ally chance acquaintance, the unrepentant former WU terrorist William Ayers). The two of them are now on the board of Movement for a Democratic society, in turn the parent body of Progressives for Obama, the leading leftist lobby group behind Obama’s presidential campaign. And waddya know – just like me they believe Obama is practising stealth politics with a degree of sophistication and success with which ‘even Lenin would be impressed’. As they say, Obama knows that he must be subtle and reassure even the most conservative of his opponents if he is to achieve his radical goals. Mark Rudd writes:

What scares me most about what I just read is that this is EXACTLY how it will play out. (See my tagline.) Just like the article states, we’ll wake up one day and won’t know what hit us. Well, most Americans, anyway. We FReepers already know what is coming because we are not sheeple.

Oh come on. Obama is a front pure and simple. He is no great thinker. The people behind him decide what he is to do and he carries it. He is a fraud. And we have really been stuck with a bunch of them in our government for quite a while.

Also, he and Hillary work for the same people.

Just remember; it was more evident in this election than ever before; the American people were not allowed to select their own candidates for POTUS.

I agree that Obama is probably no great thinker. I laugh when people say he gives great speeches as I think they are mundane. However, even if he is a front man, then who is behind him?

George Soros and the Sanders people. I am sure there are others like the Chicago machinery; etc. I wouldn’t think someone like Obama would get as far as he has in so little time without backing and planning.

I admire Melanie Phillips and her work. I think her bookLondonistan was very important and I say that as someone who lives in Europe and sees my neighbors in Germany sleepwalking toward a demographic crisis. I have seen her on C-SPAN give a compelling lecture. She has moral courage to boldly state the truth as she sees it. And she sees it clearly.

There is one caveat which ought to be said: those who attack Pat Buchanan on these threads for his alleged anti-Semitic or anti-Israel positions often do so because they are myopic in their vision of Israel. Very often, in my judgment, Pat Buchanan can capture political and cultural truth with astonishing clarity. If it is fair to put down Pat Buchanan for his alleged anti-Semitism, it is equally fair to warn readers of Melanie Phillips that her worldview is no doubt animated by a pro-Israeli position. When we read her speaking the truth, we must keep in mind that she articulates that truth in support of Israel.

Despite what Ms. Phillips intimates, many of us conservatives here have thought about the issues which she raises in this article. After Obama began making his centerleft appointments to his cabinet I posted the following:

During the campaign those of us on the right attempted to alert the nation that Barak Obama must be considered by virtue of his associations and record to carry a high risk that he is a Manchurian Marxist. And yet, as Fred Barnes points out, Obama has made all his moves in a center-left direction. What happened? I can think of three explanations:

First, we got it wrong. Obama is not a closet Marxist but a prudent leftist who might not even be as bad as Jimmy Carter. The country will go through a bad patch but the Republic will survive and so will the conservative movement and the Republican Party after we wander about in the wilderness for nearly a generation.

Second, we got it right. Obama is carefully orchestrating his power grab around the issue of climate change spearheaded by his cap and trade program and is in nostrums to fix the economy. He is not worried about what Gates can do with defense or what Clinton will do in the salons of Europe because he knows that the real action will be a stealth takeover of the American economy by way of his cap and trade policy and economic data. We are being diverted and misdirected. He knows that His centerleft appointments at treasury and in his chief economic adviser need not be ravening Marxists because the moves will all have been made even before he gets into office, We are dropping our guard because the man appears so reasonable in areas which do not matter to him. The head fake is to the center-left but the power play is around the extreme left flank.

Third, we got it right. Obama intends to change America into a socialist paradise by turning the country into one great Chicago community organization. He has ginned up the Internet and is already underway through a series of community service programs, school regulations, talk radio takeovers, patronage and voter registration control. He will exploit identity politics. He will dominate the media by eliminating talk radio and venues like free Republic. He will intimidate the rest. He will politicize and corrupt the Justice Department and deploy the criminal justice system to strike at his critics. At the end of the day, conservatives will need passwords to identify and recognize one another like first century Christians. The FBI will have thoroughly infiltrated all conservative cadres which will be as despised in the public mind as today's Ku Klux Klan.

I put my money on the first option. I think he is going to Initially disappoint a lot of progressives. I believe his power grabs will be there but they will be programmatic. Yes he will strike with cap and trade and he will also move dramatically into healthcare and massively into public works spending. But these will be designed to build the infrastructure for progressivism to take over the country incrementally and not in one bold stroke. I believe he will pick and choose his battles and, like a good communist field general operating under Soviet army doctrine; he will retreat in the face of resistance but exploit weakness ruthlessly.

I think Obama will try to run the country along Saul Alinsky methods. It would be, however, a potentially fatal error to be taken in by any head fakes.

I'm still inclined to believe Obama never thought he'd win this time around, and 2008 was supposed to be a dress rehearsal for 2012 ( see my links elsewhere )...

I still believe Duh!1®, was "selected" by an unhappy confluence of "Mo Money" than the unfortunate Cap'n Queeg, the shadily-orchestrated meltdown of "The Economy" ( which still seems to be staggering along despite it all ) and the Ophra-ization of the masses. Aided and abetted by the dumbing down caused by Public Miseducation and too much Popular Culture, which is a cesspool of reaction shots, bumper-sticker slogans, and tits, and teeth, and asses. Literally, and figuratively...

American Idol and Survivor, writ large and smarmy...

Basically, Obama was "Marketed Better"- like soft drinks are...

...but still, he's just an empty suit:

Yes, we know alright, and it's darned scary....guess it brings to mind the old saying “ignorance is bliss”....but I'll be darned if I know what the heck was wrong with voters..how they could buy this guy , with all his baggage and secrecy is beyond me.

I've been telling family and friends...hey this guy is slick, don't look for him to be proceeding with any of his RADICAL plans to change us to being a totally Socialist nation till after the first year or two...not that the plans aren't already in place...I'm sure they are..this guy's (or the ones pulling the strings that got him here as our next Pres.)slick enough not to rock the boat at the beginning and get the American publics' back up...well, on second thought, I'm not so darned sure ANYTHING will wake the sheeple up...apparently their eyes and ears have indeed been sealed. I don't know how we are ever going to get out of this mess...I keep reminding myself, “God is in control”...and we've sure got a lot of correction coming our way from Our Father.
