Here is an update to the Google layoffs story we reported on last Monday. On Wednesday, just as everyone was leaving for Thanksgiving, Google confirmed to the WSJ that it was “significantly” reducing the number of contract workers. Google also confirmed that it had 10,000 contract workers or 1 contract worker for every 2 full-time employees.
Trip Chowdhry, analyst at Global Equities Research, said that about 3,000 contract employees have been cut, or about 30% of the company’s roughly 10,000 contract workers as of the end of the third quarter. He also says that about 300 full-time employees have been let go, and that regional offices in Michigan and Colorado have been closed.
Anytime Google lays off 50 people or more, it has to adhere to the DOL’s Warn Act and file with the SEC. With hundreds of employees laid off, the only way to get around the SEC ruling is by laying off 50 employees at a time. That would mean there have been at least six months of layoffs while publicly stating that there are no layoffs. That could constitute a material misrepresentation and a total disregard for the SEC rules. And, if it is more than 50 people laid off at a time, then it means it wasn’t disclosed to the SEC. Seems like something is being covered up.

I don’t see how dumping contractors fits into that law about laying off 50+ people at a time. If they’re simply terminating contractors, or not renewing them when their contracts end, what’s the problem?

It is horrible in Texas 365/year, 24/7, 100% of the time. For example, this morning I had to fight off 10 rattlesnakes, and 100 scorpions just to get to my gun infested SUV. After that, I had to dart past 5 roadside gun battles on the way to work. Obama please save us.

At LAX when you rent a car, they provide a hand gun for free. Shotguns, a small additional charge. No drop off charge if you leave it at any Cal location.
Those employees are going to be pissed! lol.

Please come to Arizona. We have unisex public bathrooms. We love Rosie, Oprah, and all the ladies on the View. We serve arugula with all our meals. And we just hated prop 8.
