Chambliss Credits Palin With Firing Up Base
The Hill - Briefing Room Blog ^ | December 3, 2008 | Walter Alarkon

Posted on 12/03/2008 7:08:01 AM PST by MaestroLC

Sen. Saxby Chambliss (R-Ga.), fresh off his win in Tuesday's runoff, said that Alaska Gov. Sarah Palin (R) excited the GOP base and helped persuade voters to go to the polls.

"Obviously, you want to peak on the last day, and we had John McCain and Mike Huckabee and Governor [Mitt] Romney and Rudy Giuliani, but Sarah Palin came in on the last day, did a fly-around and, man, she was dynamite," Chambliss said on Fox News Wednesday. "We packed the houses everywhere we want. And it really did allow us to peak and get our base fired up."

Chambliss, who defeated Democrat Jim Martin 57 percent to 43 percent, said that he thought that popularity of the former GOP vice presidential nominee would endure.

"I mean, I can't overstate the impact she had down here," he said. "All these folks did a great job coming in. They all allow you did us to add momentum to where we were in the campaign. But when she walks in a room, folks just explode.

Chambliss called her "a dynamic lady" and said that she had a "great future" in the party.

Chambliss showed a lot of class by acknowledging that.

Palin Pingers!

Images from Papasmurf from the ralley

If you haven't been following, Palin came down here to GA to campaign for Saxby. That guy admitted that Palin was definitely NOT A DRAG on his ticket, unlike how the media tries to portray her!

Also, great story about Sarah when she came through ATL when she made a Freeper's daughters day by taking a picture with her.

Lastly another hit piece, actually I don't think I've seen one with this much vitriol for a while here.

Hope ya'll are well! Just housekeeping while my professor goes on about newspapers, I'll do a correction. The last article, it was not in good humor the comment about Palin from Biden. Sorry, I read funny (I have to scan like 3 time before I'll catch everything, also why I don't ping as early as I should) SO sorry, thanks for the correction Sarah Barracuda. So have a great day,

Sarah is great - no doubt.

But let’s give just a little bit of credit to McCain. He picked her and he stood by her.

So I say, Thank you, Sarah. Thank you, John McCain.

Tough to beat? Haha forget 2012. In 2010 voters will be SO SICK of the Liberal tilt that we’ll win back Congress. Obama will be a lame duck until 2012.. when he is defeated by Palin. Conservatism always wins. Conservatism was not on the ballot in 2008. Unfortunately people don’t vote for the VP.. they vote for the P.

Ditto.

When Bubba won in 1992, we had Dems in control of everything. A few weeks later, Republicans won a runoff election in Georgia. Republicans went on to win many special Senate, House, and gubernatorial elections. Then in 1993, Republicans sweeped Congress.

If conservatism and its principals are articulated clearly, as was done in Georgia, then it wins. 2010 is achievable! We know who our new rising leaders are: Sarah Palin, Bobby Jindal, and Eric Cantor. They are up to the challenge. So must we.

I agree. I wrote three months that ironically the man that conservatives reserve their anger for the most on the GOP side of the Senate may be the man who is instrumental in the resurrection of Reagan conservatism in America in the 21st century. Even Rush Limbaugh called him John McBrilliant.

Having said that Sarah Palin is now the de facto leader of the Republican Party until someone else emerges, if he or she does before 2012. I wrote yesterday: “Either you are for conservatism or you are against it; if the latter-get out of the way-we’re coming through!

RE : “Now, if Saxby can just remember to vote Republican..”

It will take more than voting, just like GWB vets were not enough. It will take articulating and selling . Try this:

Obama is going to be tough to beat

Yes, I know that the media has just about added him to Mt. Rushmore, but the future is uncertain. He hasn't even been sworn in, so predictions about his invincibility in 2012 are ridiculously premature. Hell, in about six months, the country could awake from its Kool-Aid-induced stupor and wise up to Barry's jive.

Re MSM and ACORN, etc., you’re right. They’ll have the next four years to become stronger. We have to use that time to find a way to make them powerless. It’ll take some organization, but how? The never-ending cheating that dems and their supporters are involved in is unacceptable.

I just read an article today that said in Georgia local Republicans are giving Sarah tons of credit and local Dems are sputtering about how she had nothing to do with it.

Peggy and her band of Merry Men can rest easy, the Dems do not want her to become the face of our party.

Hopefully, this is a jolt to the RNC.

You are kidding me, right? The RNC is brain dead and Saxby is little more than a go along, get along type of politician. Had anyone with conservative stripes had a pair and run against this man in a primary, the "Senator" would be packing his bags instead of planning for six more years in DC. I will wait and see, but I do not hold out too much hope for either.

Three big things came out of this:

1) Chambliss now owes Palin a BIG endorsement when the time comes.

2) She's got street credibility at the congressional level now.

3) Looking at the size and the enthusiasm of the crowds that still flock to see her, even after McCain's defeat and her smearing by the MSM, she is going to be in very big demand now by other Republican candidates over the next two years, thereby putting them in her debt and making them dependent upon her.

Very shrewd, very cunning moves on her part!

There is an interesting dichotomy brewing among Democrats. There is the one faction that believes that Sarah is an idiot and a buffoon and too polarizing to be taken seriously by masses of undecided or independent or moderate voters-they lick their lips with glee and say bring her on and then there is the other faction-a more rational segment of the Democrats (yes Virginia it does exist in the Democratic party contrary to rumor)that understands the value of God-given talent and charisma to a politician influencing voters (unknown variable), that if administered truth serum would admit that Sarah has a lot on the ball and is not a dunce or ill-informed and that she is dangerous to Obama and thus must be marginalized or destroyed. In a way I hope the former faction wins out-I would love to see their faces after the 2010 and 2012 elections but I fear that the latter faction will prevail and you will see a million times more venom, vitriol and ridicule levelled at Sarah by the MSM than there was in 2008; we as conservatives must stand on guard and be ready to defend Sarah to the death, that’s right to the death. The future of America is at stake.

I believe the MSM will continue to fade. I am praying for lots more layoffs and closures at the big city Democrat newspapers, and the further erosion of the network news departments. The networks carry a news division only as a loss leader, and they may finally throw up their hands and ask, “Why?”.
