I am referring to the House rebellion over the summer (the drilling issue, drill everywhere) and Chambliss, Corker, Thune, Graham et al. making up their own compromise bill for Nancy, Speaker of the Planet.

Someone tell the mealy-mouth liberal columnist that we did not BLINK. We said, “SCREW YOU.”

North Carolina and Virginia didn’t become progressive all the sudden either. The small pockets of puke liberals just voted more than the conservatives because the conservatives weren’t that happy with their candidate.

You want to hear weeping, wailing, and Nashing of teeth? Put Sarah Palin / Condi Rice on a ticket and watch the liberals explode~ when the conservatives come out of the wood work.

2010: Not just a dream, a necessity.

...making up their own compromise bill for Nancy...

Oh, yeah! Sadly, we seem to be forced to accept the lame in preference to leftists. It would be nice if some truly conservative leaders would bubble up from that ultra-weak GOP.

These leftwingers don’t understand that Obama is celebrating with the Republicans”

He isn't.
Comrade Obama has been campaigning for a filibusters proof US Senate for over 5 months. The guy has more dictatorial instincts than Stalin. This is a sharp rebuke for Obama. There just ain't no getting around that fact.

“Instead of stepping into the 21st century with most of the rest of the country”

Whereas the “change” they’ve all been touting is looking like anything but.

No, I don’t want the dims to have a filabuster-proof Senate. I’m merely throwing out the idea that perhaps Obama didn’t want it because that might make it much harder to blame someone other than dims for their problems which I believe will be legion of the next several years. Obama and dims will have to make real decisions with real consequences when they have control over both branches of government. The economy will be a huge problem for years to come (imo) and terrorism ain’t dead.

You must know something I don’t...

Let’s not miss the real message here. That the only reason Dems won big in all races is because of Obama. The blacks who voted in such large numbers returned to their apathy.

And guess what? This means that they will stay home in 2010. Because Obama is positioning himself as a centrist and will be a huge disappointment to the media and the left. That idiot lady who said Obama would pay her gas and mortgage will find herself still stuck with the bills. The blacks will not see Obama on the ballot and will stay home, meaning their usual turnout.

This means the Congress will in all likelihood turn back to the GOP.

Without the star power of their “Messiah,” the Dems are toast. All those analyses about shifts in the country’s political direction are all B.S.

2008 was the Dem’s year. 2010 will be the GOP’s year.

Chambliss, who won his first Senate term by attacking the patriotism of Vietnam veteran Max Cleland, who had lost three limbs while in the service of his country...

The Left will never forgive Chambliss for this. They thought they had the perfect vehicle in Max Cleland, who would at last give them credibility of military matters, and Saxby Chambliss blew him out of the water.

In defense of Obama -- I think he simply didn't have the time to do anything except work on his transition.

He's in way over his head, and he knows it. I'm sure the Democratic leadership knew it was highly unlikely for Martin to win the run-off, anyway.

As meaningless as the Republican image has become, at least we haven’t abandoned ideology altogether. The Democrat Party, since 1992, has been nothing more than a personality cult. The personalities change, but the underlying structure has not.

Without Obama on the ticket, the Democrats are going to have a very rough time in 2010. This is the same thing that happened to them with Bill Clinton in office. The personality cult only elevates one man. Everybody else dies for lack of oxygen.

2010 is going to make 1994 look like nuthin!

For Specter and Voinovich, both of whom face what could be difficult 2010 reelection races in states that were won by Obama, it may be hard to say no to the president.

I doubt that. We still need to be very afraid. Just because 'Rats don't have a filibuster proof majority doesn't mean they can't count on RINO's.

Yeah, look. Nice that he won. But you keep missing the point. The Rep[ublican party is FULL of Democrats. These are RINOs and Libs who ALWAYS vote with the Dems. If they didn’t, they wouldn’t be elected in the NE. If you think for one minute that 60 Republicans are all going to stand up and fight the Dems on ANYTHING, you’re crazier than a loon!

I find it hard to believe that OHB did not campaign down there. It’s possible that this blunder cost him a filabuster-proof Senate.

He didn't want a filabuster-proof senate. The big O never thought he would win the presidency. He was in it to raise money. When he got the nomination, he thought it was great because he could raise some serious cash and he knew the USA wouldn't elect a black man. When he won the presidency, he crapped his pants and began hiring all the ex-Clintonoids. He's a deer in the headlights and has no clue what he's doing. His handlers can't help him become smart overnight. He is so out of his league, we are all in for an interesting 4 years - if he doesn't off himself before then.

Believe me, I didn’t want to and I d@mn near didn’t go to the polls.

However, I have voted every time the polls were open since I turned 18, and consider it my duty to do so.

I will cheerfully support any other Republican that cares to run against him in the next primary he runs in.

He is a RINO, and there are far too many of those in goobermint as is.

Probably the latter not the former.

But what a coup if he could have pulled it off.

Seems like Obama has opted for the past... hiring the kleptocratic denizens of the old Clinton conspiracy... and bringing back the policies not seen since the blank-faced naivete of the Carter era.
Give me Reagan-Bush anytime!

While I appreciate Mr. Clelands service in VietNam, he didn’t actually lose his limbs in combat. He reached down and picked up his own hand grenade that he had dropped and it went off. Not exactly heroic. OK flame away. I have my flame retardant suit on.
