Alabama Black Belt county creates holiday in Barack Obama's honor

Barack Obama's election as president has generated a number of firsts. The latest may be the creation of a paid holiday in his honor in an Alabama Black Belt county.

At its most recent meeting, the Perry County Commission voted 4-1 to declare the second Monday in November "The Barack Obama Day."

Commissioner Albert Turner Jr., who sponsored the resolution, said flags would be flown on the day and county offices would be closed. He said he hopes county schools also will decide to observe the holiday.

Since he hasn’t been inaugurated and hasn’t done anything yet, this is obviously a racist act by racists.

Hey guys, Presidents have holidays named after them AFTER they have served their terms, and usually after that are dead, NOT before they have served one day of their term.
As at today, not even Abe Lincoln has a national holiday named after him.

Well, that seems only fair. After all, during his time in the U.S. Senate, Obama did accomplish much more any of his 99 other colleagues, right?

I mean, this honor is based upon actual performance, isn't it, and not just unrealistic hope tinged with racial bias?

How about a JFK day for being the first Catholic, or FDR for being the first victim of Polio, Nixon, first Quaker. The list goes on. Here is a better idea: first find out if he really is an American citizen and eligible to hold office, and then lets see if he actually does something note worthy.

Well, he did win the popular vote without even being a citizen of the US. That is not a positive accomplishment, but is noteworthy. Kinda like what John Wayne Gacy did.

Note that this is a county in Alabama, not the whole state. There are 67 counties in Alabama and 66 have NOT declared the same.
