Obama And The Three D's
Bob Parks: Black & Right ^ | 12/3/08 | Bob Parks

Barack Obama has successfully merged Chicago with Clinton-era politics. With that, we now have the Three D's rearing their ugly heads again. For those of you who were in elementary school when Bill Clinton was president, the three D's stood for "deny, delay, destroy".

In this case, with regards to the whole Barack Obama birth certificate stall, the "destroy" part is in regards to the U.S. Constitution, and it takes time (deny and delay) to do this.

With that, meet Sarah P. Herlihy....

The natural born citizen requirement in Article II of the United States Constitution has been called the “stupidest provision” in the Constitution, “undecidedly un-American,” “blatantly discriminatory,” and the “Consti-tution’s worst provision.” Since Arnold Schwarzenegger’s victory in the California gubernatorial recall election of 2003, commentators and policy-makers have once again started to discuss whether Article II of the United States Constitution should be amended to render naturalized citizens eligi-ble for the presidency. Article II, Section 1, Clause 5 of the Constitution defines the eligibility requirements for an individual to become president. Article II provides:
No Person except a natural born Citizen, or a Citizen of the United States, at the time of the Adoption of this Constitution, shall be eligible to the Office of President; neither shall any Person be eligible to that Of-fice who shall not have attained to the Age of thirty five Years, and been fourteen Years a Resident within the United States.
Although these sixty-two words are far from extraordinary, the natural born citizen provision is controversial because it prevents over 12.8 million Americans from being eligible for the presidency.
Is Ms. Herlihy really concerned about Arnold Schwarzenegger, or could it be someone else...?

Al Capone used those same tactics in Chicago a long time ago.

Along with Vladimir Putin and Osama bin Laden.

Then we had Pluuffee for Obama in another e mail give us the details on a Historic bowel movement on the hand picked choices for National Security.

I could not stomach opening the e mail from Bill Clinton.

And Yes I have asked these senders to take us of the list multiple times.

I have acute gastritis with all this for the love of O that I am going to go on a clear liqued diet so my gut will heal.

I hope that the SC puts an end to this birth certificate nonsense. Obama will be defeated at the ballot box, he is not going to be magically disqualified. If by some magic he is disqualified and actually resigns, his electoral votes will go to Biden or Hillary, while creating enough anger and resentment to insure that no Republican will get elected president for the next century.

Typical really, liberals are planning to close Gitmo and institute socialized health care, RINO’s are scheming with Obama to pass amnesty, and what are conservatives doing? They are basing all their hopes in tin foil hat conspiracies, fighting windmills while the enemy is making history.

It is clear that the provision was fully intended to sever any and all allegiances to other nations. That is DECIDEDLY American in its focus and protection of the country. How this learned idiot could have the temerity to suggest its un-American shows only that she is is full demonizing mode suggesting that any who agree with the constitution is somehow bad or evil.

When do we draw a line and say no more trampling on our constitution and Bill of Rights?

I am tired of laws changing to suit agendas and destroying everything we hold dear.

Perhaps some should look at the growing number of new citizens, who have friends that are definitely not friends of ours.

There are millions of people in this country today who are not eligible to be President of the United States, and have resigned themselves to that fact. Some of these people have found other ways (both good and bad) to add to the public dialogue, but they understand that the rules DO apply to them. Barack Obama (hubris redefined) and those pulling his strings believe that no rule applies to them, and if that is truly the case and they wish to tear the Constitution into pieces, keeping the ones the like, then they are more dangerous than George W. Bush was ever accused of.

Well, Obama is not alone. I found this letter from FL Senator Mel Martinez to a constituent on a blog, and it's somewhat jaw-dropping in its implications:

Thank you for contacting me regarding President-Elect Obama’s citizenship. I appreciate hearing from you and would like to respond to your concerns.
Like you, I believe that our federal government has the responsibility to make certain that the Constitution of the United States is not compromised. We must fight to uphold our Constitution through our courts and political processes.
Article II of the Constitution provides that “no Person except a natural born Citizen, or a Citizen of the United States, at the time of the Adoption of this Constitution, shall be eligible to the Office of President.” The Constitution, however, does not specify how that qualification for office is to be enforced. As you may know, a voter recently raised this issue before a federal court in Pennsylvania. On October 24, 2008, the United States District Court for the Eastern District of Pennsylvania released an order in the case of Berg v.Obama.In that case, the plaintiff, Phillip Berg, raised the same issue that your letter raises regarding proof of the President-Elect’s birthplace. Through his lawsuit, Mr. Berg sought to compel President-Elect Obama to produce a certified copy of his birth certificate.
The District Court dismissed Mr. Berg’s suit and held that the question of Obama’s citizenship is not a matter for a court to decide. The court further noted that voters, not courts, should decide whether a particular presidential candidate is qualified to hold office.
Presidential candidates are vetted by voters at least twice - first in the primary elections and again in the general election. President-Elect Obama won the Democratic Party’s nomination after one of the most fiercely contested presidential primaries in American history. And, he has now been duly elected by the majority of voters in the United States. Throughout both the primary and general election, concerns about Mr. Obama’s birthplace were raised. The voters have made clear their view that Mr. Obama meets the qualifications to hold the office of President.
After he is sworn into office, Mr. Obama will be our nation’s President and I intend to bestow upon him the honor and respect due any man who holds that Office. Yet, I am certain that there will be times when I will disagree and oppose President Obama’s policies. When that happens, you can be assured that I will pursue vigorously what I believe to be in the best interest of Florida and the nation.
I thank you for sharing your views with me and will keep your concerns in mind. If you have additional questions or comments, please contact me. For more information about issues and activities important to Florida, please sign up for my weekly newsletter at http://martinez.senate.gov.

    Sincerely,
    Mel Martinez
    United States Senator

There you have it: voters, not courts, decide the Constitutional qualifications of a POTUS candidate, (bolstered with the "authority" of a lone judge's opinion in a District Court).

Using the Senator's logic, there is no Consititutional qualification that cannot  simply be ignored or overcome by virtue of the majority vote (and the Electoral College is apparently a quaint relic of the past, since, in Martinez' view, Obama's now been "duly elected by the majority."

Step right up, Arnold (or anyone else for that matter) -- as long as you can win the popularity contest, the Presidency is yours.

The Democrats will over reach / underachieve (impossible to meet the lofty goals) and the political pendulum will swing back into the Republican favor. Then of course, it will be time for our party to underachieve just not as badly.

No one realistically expects the Presidency to topple over the birth certificate, however, it would be a great political spectacle if his real father is not an American Citizen and he was born overseas. That is the “Tin Foil” version I am leaning toward; since there is something weird about the birth certificate that is easily dismissed by producing the original and it hasn’t been produced.

Arguing that the letter of the Constitution be followed is laughable in today’s age of the “Great Living Document” whose words are touchy, feely meanings and guidelines, not actual absolutes.

Guess what, troll. To a conservative, enforcing the Constitution is never a waste of time. Oh, and we don't have all our hopes on this - this is just the beginning.

Well said fr_freak, what our n00b doesn't understand is that if the Constitution is to mean anything at all, this one provision about only natural born citizens being eligible to serve as POTUS must be upheld. Comrade 0bama has retained not one, not two, but three law firms to fight the release of information not only relating to his birth certificate, but to his school records as well.

No other President or President-elect in history has gone to such lengths to attempt to hide and conceal the details of his birth from the public.

If Comrade 0bama is eligible to serve as POTUS, let him pony up the original vault copy of his birth certificate currently under seal by the Governor of Hawaii and prove it.

Unless his grandmother who claims to have witnessed his birth in Kenya was right all along, that would explain a few things wouldn't it?
