With 91 percent of ballots recounted, Norm Coleman leads by 344 votes in Minnesota's U.S. Senate race. Coleman held a 215-vote lead over Franken after Election Day.
Between now and Nov. 4, Coleman has lost 2,369 votes, and Al Franken has lost 2,498 votes.
By Friday, all of the state's 87 counties should be done with their collective review of 2.9 million ballots.
Dec. 16, the canvassing board will gather to rule on 2,876 ballots challenged by Franken and 3,067 ballots challenged by Coleman.
While it looks like Coleman is leading, it's hard to say how secure his spot is. That's because the almost 6,000 combined challenges have skewed each candidate's running total.
The last I checked, Scott County had not yet started its recount. Scott County covers a lot of GOP-leaning suburbs in the southwestern part of the Twin Cities. Coleman did win it by a respectable margin. Hopefully, he can pick up some additional votes there.
And even better yet, the heavily Democrat counties such as Hennepin, Ramsey, St Louis and Mower have all finished their recount - or are very close to it.
Everyone keep your fingers crossed!

As tough as an election season as this has been, Franken’s defeat would really salve some of the sting. Of course if he wins, it would be a huge bummer. On the other hand, he would become a handy symbol for the Dem party!
All you principled conservatives who sat it out...I hope you are all satisfied.
We already have Jack Murtha as official offensive Dem a**hat deluxe. We don’t need any more.
This count paints Minnesota voters as pure morons.. that Franken could get that many votes.. not that Coleman is all that much non liberal himself.. Coleman seems to have RINO stripes running up his back.. but even so he makes Franken look like Curly Howard.. with all the "funny" removed..

So, if they are losing votes rather than gaining them, wouldn’t it be better to have more votes still out there for Franken? Or is the vote loss just due to the challenged ballots?
“he makes Franken look like Curly Howard.. “
Hey now — Curly was a far classier act than fecAl Franken.
And they didn't even blink an eye.
Frankenstein *will* be the next senator from the Land of 10,000 Liberals.
"Al Franken has lost 2,498 votes"Don't worry, the Congressional Democrats will find them for him.
And if you were to ever say this to Hussein's face he'd give you a big, wet, sloppy kiss on the lips. And so would Ted Kennedy.
Tere are more Republicans in Minnesota than you may think.
You are absolutely right. I did not intend to vote for McCain until he picked Palin for Veep. However, I chose to vote for Palin. My days of voting for any Pubbie just to keep a demrat out are over.
In any case, I think the GOP is actually a wing of the the demrat party and should be absorbed by it. It is futile to expect this bunch of go-alongers-get alongers and bipartisans will ever return to their conservative roots.
This race might have been different if he hadn't run.
It's good to see that the old Democrat strategy of "let's keep recounting until we're ahead and then call it" isn't working out so well this time.
