It seems that one of the axioms of Sacramento politics is this: If you can't get something done, the next best thing is to succeed in blaming the other party. [Big snip]
Speaking of mail: It's the rumor that won't go away. I continue to get e-mails about why mainstream media are not pursuing the challenge to the authenticity of President-elect Barack Obama's citizenship. The answer is that this allegation has been vetted and debunked.
As this began to circulate on the right-wing blogosphere last spring, the Obama campaign posted a copy of his birth certificate on the Internet for the world to see. While it is true that Hawaiian officials have not made the document public because of privacy laws, the state's health director said she and the registrar of vital statistics have personally inspected his birth certificate and can vouch for its authenticity. That pretty much amounts to "case closed" for anyone but the conspiracy theorists who are convinced that Obama was born in Kenya and his mother fraudulently applied for a Hawaii birth certificate. Even if this were true - it seems rather silly to engage this argument, but here goes - I can't imagine anyone being able to put together sufficient evidence to invalidate a birth certificate that has been in the official vault for 47 years.
That certificate states that Barack Hussein Obama II was born in Honolulu at 7:24 p.m. on Aug. 4, 1961. And, yes, Hawaii had achieved statehood by then, contrary to some versions of this rumor.

This article by itself is pretty meaningless. The reason I bring it to the FR readership is because of the comments posted about this article. They are a must read! Below is one example:
Reading through the comments on this article, it appears that only the mainstream media is clueless regarding the level of interest in this story. They are either in the tank, or grossly negligent. Either way, the mainstream media has ceased to be the 4th estate, and are now merely a mouthpiece for Obama and those who support him.ML/NJ
The state of HI health officials never said what the article implied. They said they have something but they did not say what it is. My guess is they have a COLB saying he was born in Kenya. Why did he provde a COLB forgery? Why are all of his records sealed?
It does not matter if he was born in HI. He is still ineligible because his father was a UK citizen and he admits he was born as a UK citizen.
The lawsuits will not stop and if he is sworn in as POTUS - anything he signs or passes will be null and void. The first criminal case for a law he signs will allow the defendant to demand to se his birth certificate. If he is ineligible - the case and law is thrown out along with any other cases or any laws he signed or any treaties or any appointments etc etc.
If SCOTUS punts you will see chaos like you never saw.
We vetted this story earlier. The writer isn’t a deep thinker and definately doesn’t know how to do any honest investigating.
“..Obama campaign posted a copy of his birth certificate on the Internet for the world to see.
I hear that Obama has spent a large amount of money on lawyer’s fees to stonewall the question of his BC. Then why should he post it on his website? I don’t see the logic of it.
We all need to go to the link and ‘thumbs up’ the comments.
It can’t hurt- maybe wake some SF readers - ;)

Any half-smart news reporter could earn the Pulitzer Prize if he/she did some digging in this whole sordid affair. Yet, no reporter is touching the story with a 10-foot pole. Why?
Because Obama’s father was Not a US citizen and his mother was under 21 when he was born, he is not a natural born US citizen. That is the law that was in effect at the time Obama was born.
John Diaz should stay in his gay hot tub writing Jayson Blair bs about how great the gay life is.

Hum, yes it does, if he was born in HI then he is a US Citizen period unless after 18 he naturalized as the citizen of another country.
It does not matter where either of his parents were born if he was born in HI. Why do you think there are countless US citizens born to illegal aliens in the US every year?
The only exception is a child born to foreign diplomats while in the US. They retain the citizenship of their parents and cant claim citizenship in the US.
Obama is about to become the asterisk President...elected, but never proved he was a natural born citizen as required by the Constitution. He joins the ranks of Barry Bonds, asterisk home run record. He holds the record, but did he use steroids?
When you think about it....that's about right though..... ;)
This article as many others, is incorrect.
They make the assumption that just because Hawaii verifies there IS a birthcertificate, that it means he was born there.
We HAVE to email these reporters and let them know the laws that pertain to Hawaii regarding birth outside the state. They do not know and will continue to print inaccurate information until they recognize that they are wrong.
If he was born in HI its a mute point, he is a US citizen regardless of his parents status. Illegal aliens do it every day.
If he was born outside the US, them mom must have been physically present in the US for 10 years, at least 5 of which were after the age of 14. So if she departed the US before that age of 19 she is ineligible to transfer citizenship and Obama did not derive citizenship at birth.
