Sarah Theus blew her perfect attendance record at Porter Elementary to go Monday to see Sarah Palin in Perry.
The 11-year-old from Macon wore a hot pink "Sarah" headband that caught Palin's eye as she took the stage at a rally for Senator Saxby Chambliss on the eve of the run-off.
"Our candidate did not win the election but she won our hearts," said Sally Theus, Sarah's mother, who gave in to her daughter's begging to attend the rally.
Theus drove down to Perry with her sister-in-law Tammy Hawkins and 9-year-old niece Hailey Hawkins, who missed a day at Covenant Academy.
They were the first to arrive at the Miller-Murphy-Howard building of the Georgia National Fairgrounds and Agricenter in Perry about four and a half hours before the Alaska governor was expected to speak.
"We wanted the girls to see a fine, upstanding, Christian woman with five kids and a good career," Tammy Hawkins said. "We just wanted them to see you can succeed."
The men seemed to have slightly outnumbered the women in the crowd as chants of "Saxby, Saxby, Saxby" filled the room and got Palin's attention.
"Saxby," she echoed while nodding her head. "You betcha," she said to a roar of cheers. While comics have stereotyped Palin's phrases and dialect, the Republican vice presidential candidate's voice and message ring true for conservatives.

Sarah and Mitt have been working hard in GA for Saxby.
Excellent. Nine years old. After Palin left the room, Sarah Theus and her cousin Hailey Hawkins were giddy with excitement. They carried Palin's autographs as they left the room in their over-sized pink sweatshirts.
"She touched this," Sarah said with a fresh signature on her pink fleece "Sarah" headband.
"She touched my finger. She touched my finger," Hailey said while jumping up and down.
The 9-year-old hunter hadn't been this excited since she killed her third wild hog over the Thanksgiving holiday.
Now Hailey's mother hopes Palin's appearance will help her daughter continue to aim for success in the future.
Now, this is America!
The GOP is trying to figure out what they did wrong this election. What can they do different. The one thing they did right, they dont give a damn about. Her name is Sarah!
Good. I’ll take any victory, but I’d really like to see a 10 pt win, just to shove it down Obama’s throat that we don’t want his unchecked agenda.
LOL
So, keep McCain away and Saxby might have a chance.
And isn’t it interesting. To hear the media and the left, Sarah was a drag on the ticket. Wonder why Saxby would want her campaigning for him.
Man, the left is scared to death of her! I love it!
I would have loved to have been there at the rally in Gwinnett County but I had to work. Hope it went well.
she’ll be great campaigning for any ticket. I wouldn’t be surprised to see her helping candidates out for the 2010 midterms and perhaps even governors next year. There are a lot of moderate/conservative dems, especially in the south, who don’t even want to go near Obama and she can give them a lot of grief.
Bump for the vote tomorrow!
That is just awesome.
When Sarah is President, young girls will wake up to a world without limits in a country where dreams can come true.
The RINO establishment is so done for. If they only knew.
I saw a video of one of her events, and I cringed when she praised Saxby’s “independent spirit”, similar to McCains.
I still ya though, Sarah.
Sarah needs to yawn for Juan.
Just a few hundred over 5000 supporters attended up here in the NW Atlanta area at 4:00 PM. Too bad they couldn’t have waited a bit till more people (workers!) could have gotten off of work and through traffic.
Gwinnette County Civic Center was configured for 6500, so it wasn’t quite standing room only; but then when you consider that one rally in Marietta on Saturday for Jim Martin (the democrat) got all of 70 people, 5100-some odd is pretty good.
Gore’s rally with Jim Martin, Carter’s rally for Martin both had around 2000 attendees. Max.
She has the establishment in Washington running scared.
Note they brought in Sarah and told McIdiot to stay in D.C. with his pal Barry.
What about Jim Martin’s Ludacris rally?
Great story. And I was happy to see a reporter actually focus on the fact that Sarah’s accomplishments are an inspiration to other women and young girls. The MSM never focused on this during the election. I will send this reporter a “thank you” note for sure.
yeah he’s rollin’ with his homey. jammin to some fiddy while sippin’ on a couple of 40s
