I keep wondering when the adults will show up and common sense returns. I’m constantly amazed at the nuttiness that my children’s friends (ages 27, 25, 18, 12) say they ‘know’ to be true. It’s frightening.
Someone made a proposal back in the 70's (and reported in Popular Science) that carbon black be scattered on the glaciers and ice fields to fend off the coming ice age.
If anything like this actually reached a point of serious action, I think someone with some sense had better start asking the grant recipients some serious questions.

There is a term for this sort of thinking. It’s generally referred to as Mental Masturbation. Ain’t no way anyone is firing any sulfur into any atmosphere. On the other hand they can talk about it all day long.
Fixing imagined golobal warming is not their goal. Control is. These people are of two types, scientists who are exhibiting classic “rent-seeking” behavious i.e. looking for grants and prestige, and totalitarian socialists desiring total control of the economy and thus everything else. The actual state of the climate and its causes is irrelevant. What is relevant is what they can make the voters believe.
Wouldn't do any good. The sulfur oxides need to be in the stratosphere. The correct (and easy) answer is called "high-sulfur jet fuel". Use low-sulfur stuff for takeoffs and landing, and high sulfur for cruising at altitude.

I’ve mentioned that on a couple threads.
Earth gets warm, some coastal cities flood, people have to move uphill or buy gondolas or something.
Earth cools significantly, tens of millions of acres of some of the most productive farmland on the planet turn to permafrost, wheat and soy production plummet 90%, grazing animals and people worldwide die of starvation.
Hey, y’all keep your frigging snow in the upstate, okay?
