Calling the 2008 elections a repudiation of Republicans, President Bush shouldered at least some of the blame for his partys poor results in November.
Im sure some people voted for [President-elect] Barack Obama because of me, the outgoing president said.

What an idiot. Last month's election was a second repudiation, after 2006, not of Republicans outright but of Republicans who act like Democrats.

Why is he giving a public confession today?
This is the third separate admission I have read here that he has made today.

I wish Bush would stop doing this. He has internalized the media’s hatred of him. Bush did some good things during his term, and then he did some silly Dem things, trying to make people like him. But if he had just stood up and told the press to take a hike, and then defended his policies, people could have liked him or not, but at least they would have respected him.

Secondly, he’s a humble, decent and
honest man, unike some.

I’m sure that some people voted for Obama because they didn’t want to keep the Clintons in power as well.

Embarrassing. He still doesn't get the border issue. It reads like he thinks in soundbites. Sad.

But if he had just stood up and told the press to take a hike That doesn't always work as we saw with Sarah. She stood up to the press and they're STILL out to get her.
To: rabscuttle385
He really lost some votes after that amnesty fiasco last year and calling the base xenophobes.

President Bush, your failure to defend yourself and your administration head on against raving attacks by a complicit press, led that press and its allies in the DNC to paint you with a brush, particularly regarding the war, that demanded a defense. That was you failing IMHO on that front.
That coupled with your brand of compassionate conservatism that led to more social spending and an ill-begotten desire to bestow legality on illegal aliens led to the results we witnessed last month.
Many, many Americans were mesmerized by a rock star blitz, others bought a mantra of change, any change, and many others want the marxist ideology that Obama represents.
We now are faced with turning things around, and if we stick to true conservative principle, we can get large numbers of those first two groups back as Obama proceeds to dismantle our constitutional Republic.

I respect his humility. I’m more upset that he is regurgitating the “faulty intelligence in Iraq” self-defeating narrative.

In fact the other two articles have very misleading headlines and they took President Bush out of context. On this one I agree with him. Lot of idiots voted for Obama because they hate President Bush so much. Obama won because of two main factors:
1. The financial crisis in late October.
2. Insane Bush hatred.
All the other factors that contributed to Obama victory are insignificant including whether McCain was a good or not.

1. The financial crisis in late October.
2. Treasonous MSM bias.
3. Insane Bush hatred.
