UN climate talks to create 13,000 tonnes of carbon

Staging a global forum on climate change is a dilemma, as it adds to the very problem it is trying to solve.

Around 13,000 tonnes of carbon dioxide (CO2) will be added to the Earth's greenhouse effect from the December 1-12 meeting of the UN Framework Convention on Climate Change, the UNFCCC said.

That estimate is based on a turnout of 8,000 people, but as of Sunday 10,657 people had registered for the talks.

Poland, which is hosting the meeting, "plans to offset the total emissions resulting from the conference once a final calculation has been made," ...

Emissions from the Poznan talks come principally from delegate travel and heating and lighting the conference venue.

Turn out the lights and turn off the heat. That will help...

When they do the calculations, they need to include all of the hot air generated by the conferees.

scratchin my head...if we are to believe this crappola,
wouldn't these 8,000 people cause 13,000 tonnes of CO2 no matter where they were at ?

if 8,000 people are causing 13,000 tonnes of CO2 at the talks, wouldn't the C02 be reduced from where they are coming from, by their not being there ?

“wouldn’t these 8,000 people cause 13,000 tonnes of CO2 no matter where they were at ?”

You have a point, and the answer is “yes” if, while staying where they were at, they also flew around where they were at in private jets for hours, flew in private chefs for every meal, used tons of energy to cook the sumptuous repasts, flew into where they were at all the drugs and hookers to be consumed at the talks, had limos drive around in circles for days on end where they were at, and filled the air with megatons of useless hot air where they were at. And flew in the squadrons of sympathetic papparazzi to drive around for days in private cars to photograph everything except the perfumed ones at their leisure. So, yes. Good point.

If, on the other hand, they wished to set an example of responsible earth stewardship, they’d ride bikes to the site of the talks and eat MRE’s warmed by the included chemical heaters, and eschew the drugs and hookers, maybe the savings on CO2 in both locations would make a difference. IF, there was any substance whatsoever to the notion that CO2 is a pollutant, or that “climate change” (the new global warming) could be harnessed and enslaved by human morons of this magnitude; or by any human for that matter.

And, as for the CO2 being reduced where they came from, the beneficial effect is enhanced by the concomitant rise in community IQ caused by their absence.

So, win-win for all. And, if you’d like to shortcut the gabfest and get straight to the results, send me tons of money, and I promise to use it to improve the climate in your immediate vicinity. Promise.

How did they manage to create carbon, which is matter, which can neither be created nor destroyed? These people really are freakin gods, just like how they picture themselves.

thanks...are you going to bury the CO2 in the ground in the strip mines like the Canadians ?

I can just picture a hundred years from now, them opening those strip mines and finding mass graves of CO2..oh the agony.
