RE “McCain would have to be declared the winner.”

This imaginary situation would not help republicans and would hurt them even more than 2006-2008 did with GWB/McCain. Fellow Freepers would be very unhappy with the effects of this.

But it wont happen, the supreme court would refuse the case not wanting to start another civil war. I can hear it now: “Mccain was ‘Selected’ not ‘elected’”, Wait, I heard this for eight years! LOL .

“the supreme court would refuse the case”

Well, let’s get our SCOTUS information hats on, everyone. Friday, Justice Thomas will present the Donofrio inquiry for conference. If at least 4 other justices move to hear arguments, it goes forward and arguments are scheduled. It is likely that it would be “fast-tracked” to decide prior to the EC being seated.

I believe that Thomas will argue to accept. Can he convince 3 others? Possibly. Conference votes are taken up almost immediately (no “days of waiting and opinionating”; it is a simple up-or-down vote.

My prediction for the conference vote: 6-3, declined, with Roberts voting against. (I’m hoping that I’m as wrong as I was last Thursday when I said my Lions would cover the spread!)

This imaginary situation would not help republicans and would hurt them even

That is exactly what this issue is, an imaginary situation. Unfortunately, all this issue is doing is distracting us from figuring out how the Republicans are going to win back the trust of the people and retake the congress.

Fellow Freepers would be very unhappy with the effects of this.

Very true, but few want to believe in reality.

Before I'm accused of defending Osama Obama, let me remind many that I was accused of being a McCainiac for continually stating that it was everyone's duty to vote for McCain as Obama needed to be defeated at all costs!!!!

My or the GOP’s happiness is not important and helping them is not the issue here. Following the Constitution is. A McCain-Biden admininstration will piss off the entire country but that is what the Constitution produces if Zero is ineligible and not sworn in.

Nor will there be a civil war. Criminal gangs may loot and burn in some places but that can be dealt with like any insurrection.
