Believers dispute divine role in victory of president-elect
Did God play a role in the election of Barack Obama, and could the Democrat even be God's sovereign choice for our next president?
The answers to those questions vary widely, depending on who is doing the answering.
Among those praising the heavens for Obama's victory was Larry Younginer of suburban Atlanta, who the Chicago Tribune reports kneeling at his church and praying the day after Obama's victory.
"Lord, we have again come to you," Younginger prayed, "and you have heard our cries from heaven, and you have sent us again from the state called Illinois a man called Barack to heal our land."
The Rev. Randolph Bracy Jr. at New Covenant Baptist Church of Orlando, told the Orlando Sentinel that the victory of a young and inexperienced Obama was like the victory of the biblical boy, David, over the giant, Goliath.
"God knew what he put in David," Bracy said. "God knew what he put in Obama."
"Things like this just don't happen, they don't just come about," Bracy told his congregation. "This is the Lord's doing, and it is miraculous in our eyes."
Many preachers and online commentators have pointed to select biblical passages that suggest God determines the winners of elections, such as Romans 13, which states, "There is no authority except that which God has established. The authorities that exist have been established by God."
Others, however, have been swift to argue that just because an event happens doesn't mean God willed it. Humans, they say, make choices that determine their destiny.

AMEN to THAT!
Was Hitler Gods choice?
The fact that nObama willingly approves the heinous murder of the unborn and newly born is enough to convince me that God will have nothing to do with him.
IMHO, nObama is the pawn of satan.
God, please bless our country.
What I wonder is what sort of situation do we have here where so terribly many descendants of recent slaves are giving thanks for the arrival of a man in the Presidency whose tribe were infamous in the slave trade.
Would you explain, please? I thought most of the slaves came from the east coast of Africa.
Yes, Yarddog, I agree with you. Sometimes God gives us leaders which serve His ultimate end, as opposed to what may benefit our own selfish desires. We as a country cannot continue to mock God, or to tolerate such rebellion, without consequences. We can cry, “God bless America,” but God is both as just as He is merciful. We will reap what we will sow.
For example, in the book of Daniel, God used Nebuchadnezzar to punish the Israelites, after a long period of rebellion. Nonetheless, God took care of his own remnant who remained in Babylonian captivity and who were faithful to Him.
The alternative point of view could only believe man pulled one over on God. That man achieved something outside of HIS plan. I don't think so. An Obama administration may turn hearts back to Him, who knows?
Would you explain, please? I thought most of the slaves came from the east coast of Africa.
Sorry, meant WEST coast of Africa. Kenya is on the East coast.
Or both God & Satan... The "end of the age" needs to come sooner or later. Both God and the devil have plans and Israel is key to them.
Romans 13
Submission to the Authorities
1Everyone must submit himself to the governing authorities, for there is no authority except that which God has established. The authorities that exist have been established by God.
2Consequently, he who rebels against the authority is rebelling against what God has instituted, and those who do so will bring judgment on themselves.
3For rulers hold no terror for those who do right, but for those who do wrong. Do you want to be free from fear of the one in authority? Then do what is right and he will commend you.
4For he is God’s servant to do you good. But if you do wrong, be afraid, for he does not bear the sword for nothing. He is God’s servant, an agent of wrath to bring punishment on the wrongdoer.
5Therefore, it is necessary to submit to the authorities, not only because of possible punishment but also because of conscience.
6This is also why you pay taxes, for the authorities are God’s servants, who give their full time to governing.
7Give everyone what you owe him: If you owe taxes, pay taxes; if revenue, then revenue; if respect, then respect; if honor, then honor.
Slaves were captured all over subsaharan Africa and transported (on foot) all over subsaharan Africa.
Moslem or Islamicized/Arabicized Africans did most of this work in East Africa.
DNA tests demonstrated that the Melungeon people (in the United States) had an actual connection to the Ottoman Empire/Islamic Caliphate through ancestors who were black Africans taken as slaves from East Africa to what is now Pakistan.
God can, if He so chooses, use Obama to accomplish His will and turn our people back to Him - as God did with King David.
Idiots: Infanticide is not Gods choice.

Neither is genocide.
(Obama’s contributing 1 million to Odinga campaigning for Odinga who caused 1200 deaths. That makes our ‘president elect’ an accessory to mass murder)
No, not God’s choice. HE knows obama is not eligible. HE is just waiting for everyone to hear and act on the truth.
Remember the story about the guy praying for God to rescue him from the rising floodwaters? He drowns because he didn’t accept God’s help.
BTW, the East Coast of Africa is where Kenya is. The West Coast of Africa is where Nigeria is. Obama’s tribe is on the East Coast.
"Upon a pillory - that al the world may see,
A just desert for such impiety."
Gods punishment.
God allowed Obama. He occasionally allows disaster to bring His children closer to Him.
