Commentary: Nostradamus Redux (third party by 2012?)
Middle East Times ^ | November 21, 2008 | ARNAUD DE BORCHGRAVE

Posted on 11/30/2008 12:23:25 PM PST by ovrtaxt

SINGAPORE, Nov. 21 (UPI) -- Although political forecasting and economic prognostication have long made astrology look respectable, there is still a latter-day Nostradamus who has defied the odds. "If Nostradamus were alive today," said the New York Post, "he'd have a hard time keeping up with Gerald Celente" -- the man who tracks the world's social, economic and business trends for corporate clients.

From the article:

This time, Celente's Trends Research Institute, which the Los Angeles Times described as the Standard and Poor's of popular culture, can see a tax rebellion in America by 2012, food riots, squatter rebellions, job marches and a culture that puts a higher premium on food on the table than gifts under the Christmas tree.

Celente says, "There will be a revolution in this country," though not until 2012, and it will take the form of a bloodless coup and the meteoric rise of a third party.

Nonsense. If Obama implements only half of what he promised America will be rushing back to Conservatism. The GOP would be well advised to exclude RINOS this time.

Well now, that’s the question, isn’t it.

Unless the GOP has done what it has in the past which is chase the left until it become left center and the left candidate is about as far left as they come.

The third party may BE the Conservative Party.

Well, 2012 is going to be a very busy year, but it will all come to a close on Dec 21, 2012, when the world ends (I dunno — thatz what the Mayans said).

Theres' a program on the History Channel tonight at 9 eastern called "The Next Nostradamus" which seems to be a similar story.

"While Nostradamus looked to the stars and mysticism to divine his apocalyptic revelations, Dr. Bueno de Mesquita relies on the most omnipotent tool ever designed by man to predict future events: the computer."

The PC Party (Tories) of Canada lost the general election in 1994 and were out of party until 2007. Even now, it is not a majority government.

Do we have 13 years?

Well...that was a cheery mid afternoon read. Guess I’ll have another slice of pie since the world is going to hell anyway. Who cares if I’m fat?

No, that date on their calender would be something akin to a re-birth. An end of the old cycle; a birth of the new. Not sure if the malls would stay open.

The guy making the calendar had to end it somewhere, didn't he? I think by the time he reached 2000, he was getting a little sick of it. I think it was just an arbitrary decision to end it there. Too much is being read into it.

There are other various and sundry researchers kind of “on the fringe”, from astronomer types to various other researchers, who also give the year 2012 as a cataclysmic year of some sort. That year pops up a lot of places.

Personally, I will still pay my car insurance 6 months at a time and my home insurance one year at a time, as I expect to be around to see 2013. However, if I’m wrong, I don’t worry about that either, because if I’m not here on earth inhabiting a body, I’ll be somewhere else ...

Right and I guess this guy reads the MSM news. Of course; people will save rather than spend with a economic turndown.

“Nonsense.....America will be rushing back to Conservatism.”

From what I see, a third party of Conservatives could happen. The GOP has been talking about what went wrong with this election. What are they going to change in the future. Bailout Boehner is still leading the house. The one thing that did go right, they dont seem to give a damn about. Her name is Sarah!!

Nope, according to the Mayans there are a certain number of cycles and we’re coming to the end of the last one. The History channel is all over this. Or is it Discovery? ;^)

TV channels rank right up there with Wikipedia for accurate information.

Off to church now or I would give you an academic take on this (not mine, and not infallible, but erudite and fairly objective).

You probably won’t read my response to this until you get back from church but my citing the TV coverage of this is meant (by me anyway) to ridicule their programming. I sometimes find entertaining programs on both those networks but their beating of the apocalypse drum drives me right up the wall.

Isn’t 2012 also the year Nostradamus predicted the world would melt down in war (nuclear war)... basically when it ends.
