Nov. 26, 2008 -- Tiny "trace" amounts of potentially toxic melamine reportedly detected in U.S.-made infant formula pose little if any risk to kids, experts tell WebMD.

Investigative reporters for the Associated Press obtained FDA documents showing the agency has been testing U.S. made baby formula for melamine.

According to the AP report, one brand of formula contained very small amounts of melamine. Another brand contained similarly tiny amounts of cyanuric acid, a related chemical. And a third maker of infant formula told the AP that its own tests detected small amounts of melamine in its product.

As I said on an earlier thread, it’s not even remotely problematical. The idiotic demon congresswoman just used her ignorance to blast the President. She’s a lying idiot, and should be exposed for it.

Dr. Bogus Pachysandra,

The link I provided makes no mention of a congresswoman, idiotic and demonic or otherwise, or of the President.

Since you have not provided the link to which you refer, I wonder if you have accidentally posted to the wrong thread, or if you are referring to information of which I am unaware.

Thank you for the link. Disappointing that she is trying to score political points during the crisis; but most politicians try to shit blame, so that is not surprising.

Dear NaturalNews readers,

The big health story right now is the widening melamine scandal now involving U.S. infant formula makers. As revealed in my latest feature article, up to 90 percent of U.S. infant formula products may potentially be contaminated with trace levels of melamine ( http://www.naturalnews.com/024947.html) under 1ppm.

There are three things you need to understand about this issue: First, after the melamine scandal broke in China and sickened tens of thousands of babies, the FDA assured the American people that U.S. infant formula products were 100% safe and contained no melamine.

They were wrong.

Secondly, when the FDA's own tests discovered melamine contamination in U.S. infant formula products, it actively sought to hide the test results from the public. It only disclosed the test results after being forced to do so by a FOIA petition filed by the Associated Press. (We gotta thank AP for doing this, by the way. Nice job on their part!)

Thirdly, once the melamine contamination results were made public, the FDA abruptly announced that 1ppm (or less) of melamine in infant formula was suddenly "safe."This decision was based on no science whatseover and was obviously a panicked defense of the U.S. infant formula manufacturers whose products are contaminated with melamine.

I suspect we haven't heard the last on this melamine issue.

NOW, IF YOU BELIEVE 1PPM YOU'RE FOOLS ....

Thanks for this link; this raises disturbing questions indeed. Not that one ought to be surprised that our government attempted to cover this up.

Melamine is in tons of stuff we are eating right now, it’s not just infant forumla, it’s in all chocalate candies and much, much more. I was told by a doctor that they are seeing an incredible spike in kidney stones, and he knows his stuff. It’s still be imported to this very day ...

Ive been doing my best to avoid eating anything with a “Made in china” label.

I feel sorry for those parents who have not yet heard this news and may be poisoning their own children unawares.

Avoiding made in China wont work. Many if not most of the Candy bars made in the US are importing this powdered milk from China, they just don't list it as such on the label. Here's a statement from Nestle.

Nestlé has a very close relationship with its milk producers in China and advises them continuously on the quality of milk production. Nestlé also has the same stringent quality control system in place in its factories in China as in any other part of the world. Over 70 different tests are routinely conducted in the course of producing infant formula and other milk products.
