Now that U.S. Sen. Lindsey Grahams 15 months of fame as John McCains Sancho Panza have passed, get ready for the next Republican S.C. star U.S. Sen. Jim No DeMint.
Former U.S. Rep. Pat Toomey, head of the right-wing Club for Growth, wrote a blast e-mail to true believers last week endorsing DeMint for a seat on the Senate Finance Committee.
With the Nov. 4 defeat of Republican U.S. Sens. John Sununu of New Hampshire and Gordon Smith of Oregon, Republican Senate leader Mitch McConnell of Kentucky will have at least one seat on the committee to fill.
The choice should be DeMint over other Republicans interested in the post, said Toomey.

FTA:
If federal spending actually created economic growth, our economy would be booming right now, DeMint said. We are trillions of dollars in debt and Obamas massive new spending program threatens to send our nation over a fiscal cliff, leading to higher taxes and fewer jobs.
DeMint decried some in Washington (who) believe this crisis should be exploited to pass pet projects and fund liberal programs, adding, Its time to stop the failed bailouts and end the wasteful spending.
DeMints solution?
Reform the government policies that have been punishing savings, investment and innovation for years.
DeMint is right on the money!

Fellow Republican U.S. Sen. Richard Shelby of Alabama told CNN recently that DeMint should cool it with his criticisms of failed GOP presidential nominee McCain. My friend Sen. Jim DeMint should keep this stuff in the caucus and not be out beating up on fellow Republicans, Shelby told CNNs Wolf Blitzer. STFU, Shelby! McCain, who is a proponent of campaign finance reform that weakened party organizations and basically put (hedge fund billionaire and liberal philanthropist) George Soros in the drivers seat, DeMint said. His proposal for amnesty for illegals. His support of global warming, cap-and-trade programs that will put another burden on our economy. And, of course, his embrace of the bailout right before the election was probably the nail in our coffin this last election. And he has been an opponent of drilling in ANWR, at a time when energy is so important. It really didnt fit the label, but he was our package. BUMP!!! |

Yep....Demint needs to out there more....hit the news more often.
Here in NC Burr will probably lose...he lost a lot of support with his open border/total amnesty stand. He actually voted against it but only after he passed his vote and waited to see which way the wind blows.
Time to get rid of all these back stabbers and let the conservvatives come back!

The repubs need to close ranks and move on. The dems are poised to ram through a bunch of stuff that will do a lot of harm to the country and a united front will help offset it. Too many losses suffered the past two elections for them to be eating their own.

What makes you think the Republican leadership is interested in saying no to more spending?

The repubs need to close ranks and move on. The dems are poised to ram through a bunch of stuff that will do a lot of harm...Yes, they are. But McCain and Graham will be the ones reaching across the aisle to help them do it. I agree that we need to close ranks but I bet John and Lindsey won't join us. They may not formally join with the Democrats (both have an ACU rating in the 80s while your average democrat is in the teens) but on many important issues they will side with the majority which will make it impossible for the GOP caucus to block anything.

Maybe, maybe not. I wouldn’t trust them on a host of issues but I would think it better to keep your friends close and your enemies closer....

Which is why the ACU ratings are a farce. They don't rank the importance of the issue. A vote to block pork-barrel spending on a $10M museum of knitting would be counted the same as a vote to remove McCain-Feingold.
