NEW YORK – Police were reviewing video from surveillance cameras in an attempt to identify who trampled to death a Wal-Mart worker after a crowd of post-Thanksgiving shoppers burst through the doors at a suburban store and knocked him down.

Criminal charges were possible, but identifying individual shoppers in Friday's video may prove difficult, said Detective Lt. Michael Fleming, a Nassau County police spokesman.

You might find this intellectually challenging, but it is not “race baiting” to observe that the crowd was primarily black. If you wish to play the (reverse) race card, you need to observe that they did not vote for McCain.

We have several nearby shopping centers. I've seen all colors and kinds at these Black Friday sales ~ sometimes as unruly mobs, and sometimes as "ruly" mobs.

It's nothing special ~ still, it's the responsibility of the store management to maintain order outside as well as inside. Something is very wrong at this store.

Our Wal-Mart is open 24/7. Folks around here are still trying to figure out why this one closed at all!

it’s no less racist to think blacks problems are because of forces outside themselves than to say it’s because they have smaller craniums at birth or lower mean IQ levels

the black community has been given a pass on accountibility for generations now and the key to their success is seen in being in the hands of folks who can help them (white America mostly) and not in themselves.

none of that has worked....only made it worse

people have to admit whther they think blacks can save themselves and govern their communtities like most civilized folks or not

what’s your answer?

can they manage themselves or do they have to have the white man’s help?

i’d like to see them do it themselves but first we have to start holding them accountible for crime, corruption, illegitimacy and things like this Wal Mart stampede same as we would any other group

The make up of the crowd in Richmond would reflect the make up of the Richmond population ~ nothing unusual in that.

The original poster, virginiaridgerunner....made the comment that the crowd did not look like McCain supporters and you then commented that he/she played the race card.

So what is it?

Is it the race card to comment on the fact that these folks in line were not McCain supporters or not?

And is it the race card to smear someone for inferring the crowd was black?

Would it have been ok to say they were Hillbillies maybe in Crossville Tennessee were that the case?

Exactly. Like it would make it OK to continue shopping following the worker's death, which they caused, because they were on line since Thursday morning.

In any case, I don't believe they were actually out there since Thanksgiving morning waiting for this store to open on Friday.

In a crowd like pictured even if someone wanted to stop the pressure from behind them would keep them moving forward, one or two people could not hold back that many people eager to get in, many probably didn’t even know someone was on the floor until they tripped over him and then could not stop. Sad. I have been in a situation where the crowds momentum pushes and it can be very hard to get them to stop, of course that was just a college graduation so no one was trying to get the best deal so yelling back through the line did have an effect more quickly then trying to stop this mob.

Prayers for this mans family. As a Wal Mart worker I spoke to at 3 am said is anything that was on sale really worth a human life? Perhaps some stores will rethink allowing mobs around the doors and make sure they stay in lines, store entries are perfect bottlenecks unless the intial surge is controlled.

As everyone no doubt recalls the City of Chicago (where Obama keeps his headquarters operation) didn’t want a Wal-Mart.

Moronic herd mentality is not strictly the domain of those people at that Wal-Mart. Don't forget about all the white concert goers that trampled 11 people to death at a Who concert in Cincinnatti, and eight people at the Rokslide Festival in Denmark in 2000.

Idiocy knows no skin pigmentation.

This shopping frenzy happens every year, I fail to see how this has anything to do with the election or those that voted for Obama. To relate these events, is a stretch beyond reasonableness. I think the poster may have some sort of an agenda.

Most of the WalMarts I have shopped in over the years are not open 24 hours. Some of them are, and more and more seem to be, but the 7-11 types still exist, and not just off the beaten path :)
