NEW YORK – Police were reviewing video from surveillance cameras in an attempt to identify who trampled to death a Wal-Mart worker after a crowd of post-Thanksgiving shoppers burst through the doors at a suburban store and knocked him down.

Criminal charges were possible, but identifying individual shoppers in Friday's video may prove difficult, said Detective Lt. Michael Fleming, a Nassau County police spokesman.

Bingo. Once a crowd reaches a certain size, it no longer matters what people at the front of the mass are doing, what matters is the people in the back.

And when the people in back can't see what's happening in front, stuff like this happens.

Probably a misquote. Probably said “early morning” or something like that. Then again, half of yesterday, I kept forgetting that it was Friday and not Saturday. You know, it felt like a Saturday ... wasn’t at work, didn’t have to go to Church ...

"Walmart may want to re-think the idea of having store specials which attract hordes of unruly urban underclass shoppers"

Then who the heck is left to shop there? That's their entire shopper base.

Sounds like a discussion you'd see on KOS. There are a lot of good and decent, hard-working people, black, white, and every other color, who shop at stores like Wal-Mart.

I was at a show in 1989 where a girl fell in front of me and it was only good luck for her that she didn’t get trampled.

Slaughter or Winger or Warrant by chance? :O)

Well, Tax Chick, that is because you are an intelligent Freeper and know better! I did get a chuckle seeing the woman’s “viable tissue mass” called a “baby”: the pro-abort editors must be off on holiday praying to The Devil so it slipped by.

“They can start by tracking down the holders of all of the credit cards...”

These are generally not credit card users. Cash only. No paper trail.

I’m not against Black Friday Sales. But if you look out and see 2,500 people in the parking lot, and you know the width of your doors etc.. They failed to provide safe
Ingress/egress due to the circumstance that they willfully created. They failed to adequately plan for the event that they held and should have anticipated what could have happened in that neiborhood. I fault the people who did this as well. They should be prosecuted.

I can’t understand why the cops didn’t seal the exits and get ID and statements from every single “customer” inside. Everyone inside that store (other than workers) was a homicide suspect and should have been treated as such.

Anyone who has ever been at a concert where there was a stage rush knows that it’s the people behind the ones in front that cause the problem.

Exactly.

Now wait a minute, it’s not just Walmart.

Yesterday, the following stores (these are just the ones in my area that I know of) had Black Friday sales, with doors opening at 5:00 am:

Best Buy, Circuit City, LL Gregg, Dick’s Sporting Goods, Bass Pro Shops, Sears, J.C. Penney, Kohls, Dillards, Kmart, Toys R Us, Office Depot, Target, etc, etc.

Add to the list if you know of any others. I’m sure there are more.

In any case, it isn’t the store it’s the “shoppers”.

In other news, 1400 Walmarts across the country opened up at 5:00 am yesterday to crowds looking for Black Friday bargains.

One of them had a riot that killed a guy.

I agree! The MSM would have us believe that these fine young men were shopping for presents for their Mamas. GMAB I’ve been BF shopping for years, and have rarely seen *one* young man let alone a crowd full of ‘em. I see moms, dads and grannies, and we all get along just fine in the stores. That crowd was filled with angry thugs. The fact that they were pissed off that they couldn’t keep shopping after learning that a man had been killed speaks loudly as to how little they value human life. If I had been there, I’d have been physically ill and would just want to go home.

Unfortunately, there’s no way to prosecute the crowd. Hopefully some individuals will be identified from the films. But these guys are well aware that if you wear your hood up, it’s hard to see your face. Wonder why they know that. Don’t anyone tell me they had their hoods up because it was cold. I was out on BF at that hour a lot further north, and I daresay it was much colder. No one had a hood up in any of the crowds I was in. I was wearing a hoodie sweatshirt, and the hood always stays down.

Ditto. Sassafrass’ remarks are uncalled for.

There is no ‘DNA’ inferiority and to suggest it is just wrong.

Liberals have urged victim mentality and welfare on these people for years.

Well, since I’m a black humor sort of gal, I can definitely see the humor in that sentence. If it weren’t myself, I’d probably be cracking up at it!

While I agree that as a whole, Wal-mart isn't solely responsible. THIS particular store is, however, partly responsible, as are the shoppers. They should have anticipated the crowds, they should have provided an orderly entry method and they should NOT have used employees to try and slow the crowd. This poor guy was a "temporary maintenance worker". Why was he doing crowd control?! I see a justifiable lawsuit against the store...and I hope they win big!

What does any of it have to do with the election?

I think the poster's point is that Obama supporters are all about me, ME, MEEEEEEE!!!! And that's why this happened. And I agree with him. Mind you, there may be a few bad apples among McCain/Palin supporters but generally speaking most Obama supporters are self-centered, it's-all-about-me thugs.

Sick. Just sick. I will never go and cue in a Black Friday line. I can get things online from somewhere at the same, better, or a close enough price. You ain’t getting me up at 3AM on a day off to get in line with a bunch of animals. This is mindless consumerism gone mad.

When first hearing of this story, I just kept wondering, Who were these people?, What did they look like? Could they be the same kind of people I think of when I think of Americans shopping for Christmas? Then I saw the images. The first thought I had was that these were Obama voters. The second thought was that these people are NOT Americans. They are NOT representative of what America stands for, has stood for, or is now. The whole incident is too disgusting for words.

I want these people prosecuted as well. Whatever it takes.
