I’ve known both the “good” and the “bad” (not trustworthy, not terrorists...) Muslims. Unfortunately, few of the “good” and many more of the “bad”. The dividing line always seemed to be how devout the individual was. The “good” muslims treated their wives and families well, almost never spoke of religion, and appeared to be secular. The “bad” were “in-your-face” about their religion (doesn’t play well with me no matter what your stripe), and while living and working in the US, were resentful and hateful of the power of the US.

I have been in contact with some Muslim friends since 9/11 because of concern for their safety....

Nobody disputes that radical Islam isn’t a problem, but when people find themselves talking about wiping out every single Muslim from the face of the earth, they really need to get a grip...

It would be most useful if the good, upstanding Muslims would actually take a stand and forcefully condemn those that want to wipe anything not Muslim from the face of the earth. Just whining that we/they aren't all like that doesn't hack it. The overwhelming, except for a few isolated cases, silence on the matter can be construed as tacit approval.

All religions, including Christianity, have the seeds in them to allow fanatics to indulge in murders and massacres in the name of their religion.

Every religion has the capacity to be "civilized" by separating the extremists from the fold. The secular Republic of Turkey, for example, has been keeping Islamists at bay since great-Grandma was doing the Charleston in the 1920's and since America did not know an Islamist from a French Poodle.

We are now at war with people who divide other people by religion and then decide if that merits their death or not. The attitude that "the only good Muslim is a dead Muslim" is nothing but the flip side of that religious fanaticism coin.

If you want to eliminate every "Muslim" in the World, you are doomed to failure as you will never succeed in the elimination of 1.6 Billion people.

If you want to eliminate every violent "Islamist fanatic" in the World, that is a much more rational and achievable goal.

Anybody who thinks this needs to read some books like Three cups of Tea, or (for the women) Kabul Beauty School. I think most just want to be left in peace. When you have a small percentage of a huge group who are radicals..it is still a lot of radicals.

May I submit to you, that Christianity has been able to move forward with a better and truer understanding of the New Testament and the lessons it teaches. The koran, however, is stuck in the jihad it demands and there is no room left for an equal treatment of those who will not bow to islam. In Christanity, it is God who will judge. I would say that Genghis Khan only earned his reputation after dealing with the Muslims of central Asia. The initial actions of Khwarezmia tend to bear out a historical Islamic trend of kidnapping and beheading.

The MSM, the United Nations, the Democratic Party, and the EU do not recognize Islam for the cancer that it is.

I do not suggest anything of the sort of genocide towards millions of people who are in the grip of this death cult. Christ would not suggest anything of the sort either. He died for all sinners, including them.

The sad truth, however, is that the Left regards Israel and Christianity as much bigger threats than Islam.

There is a former Muslim who spoke at my Christian church - and he really opened my eyes to certain facets of Islam. For one thing, did you know that all Muslims believe they will be punished for their sins while in the grave? There is no avoiding this, according to their belief - except martyrdom. They believe Allah is so rigid and strict in his fanatical precepts that he will punish every Muslim for minor infractions such as flinching during a call to prayer.

Moreover, every Muslim will be judged on what they believe is Islam Judgment Day by Allah - but the punishment in the grave will happen also - it will be horrible, and they cannot hope to avoid it.

This is why they believe "Tickets to Paradise" are so desirable, when in fact it is a Ticket to Hell itself.

Perhaps you said something as an absolute. My mind is open to the small hope that there ARE moderate muslims who will one day step up to the plate and rid themselves of the deathmongers amongst them. My glass is not half full, but there may be a few drops left in that glass.
