It was my understanding that, under Saddam Hussein, Iraq had become predominantly secular. I believe our presence there is intended to stabilize the area and eradicate the terrorist base that was operating there.
you’re right — under Saddy, Iraq was secular. There were no AlQ terrorists there as AlQ hated the secular dictatorship of the Baathists
