So very true.
I have been following the situation in Zimbabwe via FR for many months now and have confidently predicted a total collapse of the Government followed by a revolution to throw out the current rulers. But I'm starting to rethink that position. It just could be that the people of Zimbabwe may just lie there and take it rather than rise up and fight. And what seems certain: they will get no help from their African neighbors. And they will get no help from the Brits who, one would think, would retain some residual feeling of responsibility for those poor souls who were once the proud residents of a great country name Rhodesia.
Ditto on that. Even during the late 1970’s after over a decade of a total embargo and in the midst of a terrorist insurgency, partially brought on by the same embargo, Rhodesia NEVER faced starvation or the return of diseases caused by poor sanitation. What a tragedy.
To be honest I don't follow it much anymore.
It is totally self inflicted. I don't have much interest in racist tribal people bent on national suicide. Where they were going was self evident many years ago. Now they pay the price.
Venezuela is on the same path, oil or no oil.
That appears to be a more common response than mass revolt. Look at the Jews and their shipment to the extermination camps. We are not totally immune here should Obama cook the frog slowly.
Everyone feeling even a tiny bit of sympathy for Zimbabwe, or for the rock stupid people that enabled / followed Mugabe and rejoiced in the end of "colonial domination"....please raise a hand.
Everyone expecting those same (now starving) citizens to stand up and revolt after all these years...please seek treatment.
PS: From what I understand, you treat Cholera with a bucket and saline IV, three days and you're good to go. Without treatment, as soon as you are totally dehydrated - you're totally dead.
I expect they've sold the bucket and can't get the saline solution by this point.
What is going on in Rhodesia has been going on for decades, was beginning to occur just before the white government of Rhodesia was forced to step down and has been rapidly accelerating ever since. You will not read about this in most places in the West because not only is the failure of one tribal regime after another in Black Africa politically incorrect, but because once again governments in the liberal democracies of the West have been complicit in the slow torture/murder of this country, once with one of the highest standards of living in the world. South Africa is also eventually headed to this destination, although watching Zimbabwe and learning (a little) they aren’t in as much of a hurry. One more thing for which you can thank (among many other thoroughly cozened guilty white liberals) Jimmy Carter.
