Blagojevich: Let Ryan out of jail

Gov. Rod Blagojevich, who rode into state office pledging to clean up the corruption of his predecessor, said today that President George W. Bush should commute the federal prison sentence of former Gov. George Ryan to time served as an act of compassion.

Blagojevich, making a Thanksgiving Day appearance at the Chicago Christian Industrial League, contended Ryan had paid "a significant price" for what he termed "mistakes."

Citing the frail health of Ryan's wife, Lura Lynn, and the 74-year-old former governor's health concerns, Blagojevich said a commutation by Bush would be a "fine decision."

See all the nice crooks help each other. Ryan is one of the biggest reasons the Ill. Republican party is in deep brown, smelly stuff. Not only did he participate in a bribery conspiracy that probably led to the deaths of six totally innocent people, he followed it up by commuting the death sentences of all Ill. death row inmates, including one triple murderer. May he rot where he is. An a leading RINO, of curse, and due to the "New Tone," he could be at the top of Bush's commutation list, with Compean and Ramos left to rot.

Blagojevich makes Ryan look like a Saint. That’s why he wants this done to set a precedent for when his butt is in jail when Obama is in office.

Hey Rod,unless Zero fires the US Attorney in Chicago, you will probably join him in prison. I hope that you do end up there..or talk your way out by implicating Zero.

I hope that Bush does not pardon any politicians or business personnel. They can rot for all I care.

What is it with IL Governors anyway? Every one of them has been indicted for corruption since the 70s. I mean, DAYUM! The state should be split in two, because once you get past Champaign the state is conservative like parts of the Deep South.

Actually quite a bit of Cook County is conservative outside of Chicago. bill Clinton didn’t win Hillary’s hometown either in 92 or 96.

If Ayres can be pardoned so can Ryan. I know quite a few of the people involved and Ryan was involved in the cover up more than the crime.

Ryan got elected when the Chicago Dems decided to back a RINO instead of the conservative Dem from Southern Illinois Poshard who was more conservative on guns and abortion. Gotta give the Dems credit, they play Republicans in IL like a violin.

Now they want to have Bush pardon Ryan so they can beat the GOP over the head with it. It never ends in IL.

I don’t think Ayers was pardoned.

Blago’s a moron, even by Illinois Dem standards - but at least he can see into the future, and that future will look a lot more palatable if there’s a precedent for pardoning former Illinois governors who’ve been sent to the slammer.

You've got it, and an excellent reason for Bush not to commute Ryan's sentence, especially with the Messiah soon to be President and desperately looking for any plausible way to save Blago.

Cook County and Chicago. Isn't that where Obama crawled out?

“What is it with IL Governors anyway?”

The problem is we put all the slime who have enough sense to cover their tracks in the *Senate* (Obama, Durbin, Moseley-Broun, Simon, etc); that leaves only the real retards for the governorship.

And by “we”, I mean the rest of the state, not me!

I’m so glad to be in Tennessee, instead of Illinois, the Chicago area of which I come from originally. We even have shall issue CCW here and I have a story that will make you weep with envy. About a week ago I was stopped fro a minor speeding offense by one of our Knoxville cops. I told him I had a loaded .357 in the glove compartment, loaded with hollow points. He laughed, said he’d all ready seen my permit in my wallet, said he also had a permit and wouldn’t go around without packing. Just try that in Chicago, or anywhere else in Illinois.
