Also siege ended at Taj hotel. Searching all the rooms now looking for hostages. Six bodies recovered, at least two of them terrorists.

one thing I’ve leard from all this is that India has a dizzying array of military and police forces, many of which seem to have redundant functions.

You tend to have those, considering the complex nature of India’s enemies- domestic and foreign, and their modes and terrains of operation.
one thing I find fascinating is the Special Frontier Force, raised primarily from ethnic Tibetans. Originally a guerilla force which fought the Chinese and smuggled the Dalai Lama out of Tibet, its current status is quite mysterious, but it seems to be a self contained army within the larger Indian Army, with its own intelligence, aviation, and Special Operations units.

Gee thanks. Only took 4 freakin’ days. Pathetic. Everyone thinks Americans are paranoids, obsessed with terrorism. Until it happens to them. Except it happened in London, Madrid and Bali too, and no one took it seriously or got prepared in India.
