But I am struck by how lucky this country is, at the moment, that the president-elect is a super-smart person like Barack Obama.
With each passing day, it becomes more evident that even the smartest and most experienced managers of the American economy are struggling to understand -- and fix -- what has gone wrong in our markets.

Senility is setting in on one of America's once-great journalists. Perhaps he's sharing too much scotch with Peggy Noonan....but the journalists have long lost their proper perspective on our Constitutional government.

For some time now I ask them if they think their politics are smarter than conservatives, then I question them about their knowledge of the Constitution. With my questions they score zero.
They live in a fantasy world; I'm very happy to point it out to them.
a super-smart person like Barack Obama
Smarter than this dunce anyway.
> But I am struck by how lucky this country is, at the moment, that the president-elect is a super-smart person like Barack Obama.
Satire, surely?
the president-elect is a super-smart person
And we KNOW this because his transcripts from high school and college say so.
oh.. wait...no one has ever seen them.
Well, I’m sure that at least ONE of the schools that he attended in these 57 states will release them shortly...
But I am struck by how lucky this country is, at the moment, that the president-elect is a super-smart person like Barack Obama.
Mostly, I'm stuck by how obtuse people can be, to fail to see the man behind the curtain.
Well, well another dem who is smarter than most. Who would have thought it. Clinton was oh so smart, Hillary was the smartest person in the world. Being democrat means never having to prove it.

Three words: Kool Aid Enema
Let’s see...the “smartest” people brought us income tax withholding, the Vietnam War, the Great Society, Stagflation, the S&L crisis, 9-11, the sub-prime crisis, and borrow-and-spend economics. Yep, we need more of these geniuses with absolute power.
“super smart”?
On what does he base this?
The piece makes it clear that David Broder can’t distinguish “silver-tongued” from “smart.”
Obama’s mission is simple...to get an ideology in, not to help America. It’s not so difficult to do the former.
Broder and his class put this man in the most important job in the world at a time when the world is on the rim of the crater. Upon what basis did Broder and the rest of the leftists parading his journalists ground their judgment that this was the man for the job? Clearly not on his accomplishments. They spent the entire campaign belittling those who questioned his lack of accomplishments. Clearly not his radical left associations, they spent the bulk of the campaign belittling those who questioned his radical left associations. The one thing they did do during the campaign was to tell us how smart he was and how well he campaigned. Now a Broder tells us, again, that he campaigned well and adds that he is "equally surefooted in the transition."
Broder assures us, one more time, that "the president-elect is a super-smart person." How does he know this? Simple:
I have talked to two people on the fringe of the transition team -- both members of Congress with major responsibilities in the economic area. Both have been asked for input by Obama, and both say that the quality of his questions -- and his follow-ups -- were a measure of the depth of his knowledge of the situation.
Well I guess that settles it, people on the "fringe, quote Democrats, Congressman, Obama supporters whose future rests with his popularity, tell us that he asks good questions. George Bush asked good questions about weapons of mass destruction, unfortunately a Democrat gave him the wrong answer: "Mr. President it's a slam dunk." Evidently, when judging Democrats, only questions not the evaluation of answers, matter. All Obama's reported questioning was done in private, of course, but Broder knows it must be true because of what has happened in public:
He has not been tested that rigorously in the news conferences he has held so far, but his ability to respond to the questions he has been asked, to make his points in a coherent, balanced way and to avoid any misstatement has certainly been a treat to watch. (emphasis supplied)
The problem is that Obama has littered the campaign trail with gaffes from telling us that there are 57 states, to telling Joe the plumber how he is going to redistribute wealth, to telling us how he does not regard taxes as a means of funding the government but of redistributing wealth. All of these gaffes have been, to Broder, "a treat to watch." I confess I am a little bit unenlightened about why they convince Broder that Obama is a "super smart person."
When I saw the headline and before I began to read the article itself I reacted as follows: here we go again, a liberal telling us that the incumbent Democrat is a genius while every Republican since Eisenhower(excepting Nixon who was evil) was a dunce. I remember being told that Kennedy speed read at a blinding rate- a lie. While Broder is not clever enough to be able to judge intelligence, he has been around long enough to know that this ploy needs a new paint job before it's going to sell. But I will not buy it no matter how much he burnishes it.
Shame on you David Broder for foisting an unqualified and distinctly dangerous man upon the world with no better understanding of his character than what you were able to marshal in this pathetic column. You might have a great deal to answer for to my children.
But I am struck by how unlucky this country is, at the moment, that the president-elect is not a smart person just an idiot with many sheep.
If the man child is so intelligent why did he need a teleprompter on the stump? For that matter, why didn't he release his college transcripts if he's as bright as David Broder claims?
If the definition of smart is breaking every campaign finance law none to man along with hiding a socialist agenda from the American people over the last 18 months then this guy is Einstein.
All I can say is keep building this clown up for his big tumble. Oh, that's right. It's Bush's fault. Sorry.
“good time for a brainy president”
more prairie pancakes to avoid.
