The RNC helped the Left route the primaries to the liberal states and open primary states first just for this reason.

No, it was the Ghosties and Ghoulies and Long-Legged Beasties and Things that Go Bump in the Night. It's disconcerting that we have drooling morons on our side that every bit as dumb as those at DU. The primary system is a creation of the individual states with a heavy dose of tradition and party accomodation. Those that attempted to jump the line this year got their peckers shortened by the parties (think Michigan).

The order and type of primaries this year was much the same as what Ronald Reagan went through in 1980. The RNC is not a conspiracy against you.

I am not a member of the Republican party. I left the Republican party after the primary.

Oh, that is a great way to bring people back to the GOP. Call us drooling morons... then, in the Congress vote for what we tell them we do not want... RNC is effing brilliant, aren't they?

Actually, it is, I believe, only a felony when an illegal enters a second time after being deported. When Sensenbrenner introduced the bill making it a felony on the first entry offense, every illegal alien here could have been deemed a felon.....that’s when the OBL and pro-illegal groups went nuts...that’s what stirred their massive protests. Subsequently, it has, in addition, become common practice by the OBL and this Administration to intentionally distinguish between (common) illegal aliens and criminal illegal aliens.

Yet...seems that in order to avoid prosecuting and deporting illegal aliens, folks continue to play games with the language, refusing to distinguish. They all say they oppose amnesty, but won’t define it. The ONLY Republican candidates who made their positions absolutely clear were Hunter and Tancredo.

Good. We do not need a coterie of conspiracy theorists and troofers with their own version of reality.

It will pass this time more than likely. The battle will be fought in the House. The 2006 Hagel-Martinez amnesty bill passed in the Senate and that was in a Rep controlled Senate. It was only the Rep controlled House that stopped it.

On amnesty and immigration, Rommney was spot on. His advisor, Kris Kobach, is the reason why.

Sensenbrenner was asked to put that language into the bill at the behest of the WH. When the WH backed away from the bill, Sensenbrenner tried to have the language removed, but the Dems and some Reps wanted it kept in as a poison pill to kill the legislation.

Mitt knocked himself out with HIS MASS HEALTHCARE”

I agree.
That was Mitt’s “macaca” episode in his life.

I think he is done on the national scene.

I don’t trust Huckabee, tho.
A little too slick by far.

I believe, only a felony when an illegal enters a second time after being deported.

Under Title 8 Section 1325 of the U.S. Code, "Improper Entry by Alien," any citizen of any country other than the United States who:

has committed a federal crime.

Violations are punishable by criminal fines and imprisonment for up to six months. Repeat offenses can bring up to two years in prison. Additional civil fines may be imposed at the discretion of immigration judges, but civil fines do not negate the criminal sanctions or nature of the offense.

It is a felony on first offense. Subsequent violations result in increased penalties....Administration to intentionally distinguish between (common) illegal aliens and criminal illegal aliens.

The distinction between "illegal aliens" and "criminal illegal aliens" is that the latter goes on to commit additional crimes such as murder, rape, etc,. etc,.

ElayneJ:Election laws are broken?

The laws aren't broken...it's the politicians and law enforcement that is broken. If they would simply enforce the laws on the books,we wouldn't have the problems we have. Happy Thanksgiving to you both.

Happy Thanksgiving!
Good point on the broken laws - what I meant, though, is that laws are broken in the sense that they’re being violated, not that the legal system itself is broken. In any case, not a good result!

Well, now i’m confused. Maybe I’ve had too much turkey or pumpkin pie....

....”Illegal aliens themselves would also face stiffer penalties for violating U.S. immigration laws under H.R. 4437. Illegal entry, now considered a misdemeanor offense, would become a felony and illegal aliens could receive jail time for immigration violations. “....

http://www.fairus.org/site/PageServer?pagename=research_feb06nl01

“WASHINGTON — A pledge by Republican leaders that they will not push to make illegal immigration a felony is unlikely to defuse opposition to proposed immigration and border security legislation, lawmakers on both sides said Wednesday.

A bill the House passed in December called for making illegal immigration a felony offense, punishable by at least a year in jail. That proposal has been a rallying cry for thousands of demonstrators, some carrying signs saying, “We are not criminals,” who have protested across the USA against proposals in Congress to crack down on illegal immigration.”...

Well, now i’m confused.

Understandable considering politicians/lawyers are in the mix. I'm not sure why they would pass redundant laws. If it is a misunderstanding on my part... I'm sure someone will be along shortly to clear it up or point out that politicians are politicians without need for reason or rationality.

I want the borders secured more than anything else. If neither the Republicans or Democrats will do anything about it, I say they are cowards AND traitors.
