Yes, why would a locally based group choose to assault in boats? They would have so many more options on land, unless the water routes/access points were just a lot more vulnerable, etc.

aside:

Former CIA honcho John McLaughlin asserted on CNN a few minutes ago that India has the LARGEST Muslim population in the world. I would have hoped that a big time CIA dude would know better what he is talking about. That is quite a piece of ignorance for a guy who was #2 in the CIA..... what is true is that India has a huge Muslim population, but it falls behind Indonesia and Pakistan in total numbers:

Rank Country Muslim Population

1 Indonesia 207,000,105
2 Pakistan 159,799,666
3 India 151,402,065

The attack started at around 9 pm last night, so if they were coming into town by boat, they could have used the cover of darkness. They also appear to be suicidal one way mission types. Not raiding and plundering pirates. But why not just drive into town with a ? The Taj seemed to be right on the water so perhaps the boats helped them there, but the other points of attack were right by roads.

Maybe there was no security focused on the water side?

John McLaughlin underwhelmed me when he was testified before congress and tonight I thought he seemed “off” when he was being interviewed on CNN... I agree with a comment I read elsewhere, CNN really should switch to CNN Europe when this sort of thing happens, their anchoress is clueless what to even ask.

My best guess is that part of the force just came from the

(AQ)training camps,,,(by sea),,,

CNN had a map that showed attack points from one end of

the city to the other,,,so,,,

Some were already there,,,drove/walked from a safe-house,,,

IIRC the attacks started about the same time,,,(9:30 pm),,,

They all seemed to carry their ammo/etc. in backpacks,,,

Weapons too ,,,

Nobody would look twice at a guy with a pack...
