Mumbai: At least 15 people have been injured in gunfights between two groups in at least three places in Mumbai on Thursday night.
Details are sketchy but it is believed that two gangs fired at each other at outside CST Railway Terminus, Hotel Oberoi and the popular Café Leopold restaurant in Mumbai.
The first shooting took place near the CST police station

CNN has CNN Int’l on it seems with a lot more video on the ground and people on the ground, at least at the moment.
They are saying two hotels, at least, with hostages.

A taxi filled with ammunition was found in the suburbs of Mumbai, India, IBN reported Nov. 26, adding that attacks could spread to the city’s western suburbs. A boat filled with ammunition and explosives was found near the Gateway in Mumbai; the explosives used in the Mumbai attacks reportedly came in via the sea, IBN reported.

Holy christ man...well...depends who they call, if it’s SF, don’t panic...just make no sudden movements if they come calling and keep your hands visible...if it’s regulars...get the hell away from the windows and stay there till the radio says the shooting has stopped. Hell, if it’s safe...check in with your neighbors and see if you all can figure out what your options are.
This is a little off subject, but I’m worried about our shopping malls here in the U.S. this holiday season.
Lots of people in one location with limited exits. Please God, nothing happens.
Foreigners targeted in coordinated Bombay attacks

Gunmen stalked a hotel in Bombay looking for British and US passport holders during co-ordinated attacks across the city that have left at least 18 dead.
A series of shootings and bomb blasts at luxury hotels and bars in the south of the city hit at least nine locations. Security sources said “a major terror attack” was unfolding.
Shootings were reported in the lobby of the five-star Taj Mahal Palace hotel in the Colaba area of south Bombay and at the nearby Leopolds bar, a popular destination with western backpackers. Witnesses described pools of blood and bullet scarred walls at both locations.
A witness at the hotel told a local television station: “They wanted anyone with British or American passports.
"They wanted foreigners.”
It was feared that the death toll could rise significantly. The Times of India reported that more than 80 people had lost their lives.
Nearby, witnesses described a “high intensity” bomb blast at the Oberoi hotel, also in the south of the city, a regular meeting place for businessmen and wealthy tourists. Paramilitary forces were readying to storm the tower-block building, one of Bombay’s best-known landmarks as smoke continued to pour from the hotel lobby amid fears that hostages were being held by gunmen inside.
City residents several miles away said they had heard a huge blast – many had initially thought it was a firework set off to celebrate a wedding. Elsewhere in the city, a taxi was blown apart, apparently by another large bomb.
Sajjad Karim, an MEP for the North West of England who is in Bombay said he had seen a gunman opening fire in the lobby of Taj Mahal Palace Hotel.
The “Pirate frigate” turned out to be a Thai fishing vessel.

If they were looking for American or Brit passports...then it was Al-Q. Probably Kashmiri working for them...wierd they’d take hostages...perhaps they’re using the Beslan gameplan?
If they are really targeting Brits and Americans, then they are probably Islamists. But it is too early to tell.

It’s been a hard long week . Our grandmother suddenly took ill and passed away at the age of 85 . Her children and grandchildren are still in shock . 2 of her grandsons (my brothers) were in the United States She had not seen them for 7 years . She called for them from her death bed and one of them rushed it was a long flight and she died as he arrived at the hospital . he never got to say goodbye or thank you . but he tried to make the journey half way accross the world . He wept bitterly as he carried her coffin .We are already mourning her loss and now we hae to cope with this MASSIVE attack on our city.
A horrible situation unfolding there. Prayers for all concerned. And special prayers for the Indian police and military to deal appropriately with these Al-qaeda vermin.
They need to be wiped from the face of the Earth!

Here’s hoping the Indian military’s improved since the Golden Temple mess. I think they have..but this is a job for SF types...assuming they can manage to affect an entry into one of the hotels held by the bad guys (gotta sssume that the bad guys have already wired the hotels in question to blow, ala Beslan). Not good at all.
