When I didn't speak out for the Mormons, they came for me. I was a Catholic, Protestant and Jew and they came for me and no one was left to speak for me by then because I remained silent. Its time to thank Mormons for standing up for God and His Truth and know that those who persecute His Children, they serve not for the sake of the world but for His Word, which endures forever.

I’m there, the LDS did a remarkable job of helping to defend Marriage, they should receive thanks and a well done from everyone who cares about defending Marriage.

For what its worth, they did a great job. My reasons for posting the original open letter was to allow Freepers to participate and to make clear the context to which the story here refers. We all need to speak out. I've done so and I hope others will follow in my stead. Today, its the Mormons. Tomorrow, it may be Free Republic. This ends here and this ends now by showing the Left we will not be bullied into submission and intimidated into silence.

On a slightly more depressing note: I asked the head of a local Southern California Calvary Chapel to endorse Proposition 8 and to make note of it in a sermon. It’s not one of the Calvary Chapel mega churches, but they have at least 500 members. Although I’m evangelical, I don’t attend that church and I asked friends if proposition 8 was ever mentioned from the pulpit, and they said the most that was done on any front was a voter guide and registration in the foyer.

The fact that an investigation into the church’s financial affairs is even considered, brings to the forefront the ignorance of the public about how the Mormon Church is organized and how it operates.

The primary complaint that the homosexual activists came up with is that the Mormon Church did not report the equivalent in dollars of the time spent backing the proposition. For instance if a Bishop of a ward (minister of a local church) spent a portion of his time backing Prop 8, he should have reported a portion of his salary and declared it for IRS purposes.

1. Except for a very few, no one is paid in the Mormon Church. From the janitorial staff up to and including most of the Leaders of the World Wide Church, they are paid nothing, zero, nada. Therefore, there is nothing to report.

2. Except for writing a letter to it’s members( partisan politics is never discussed during church services) only generic constitutional politics such as being the duty of church members to exercise their vote and to research all ballot issues and candidates to ensure that the candidates/issues do not conflict with biblical teachings the Church itself was not involved in the political process.

3. Members of the church willingly and earnestly follow the admonitions of the church leaders. The history of the church and how it survived many organized attacks to destroy the church not only survived but is one of the fastest growing churches in America today is a testement to their faithfullness.
