It's the mobile phone that could leave you with more than a warm ear.

As startled Italian police discovered, the device seized in a raid on a Mafia gang is actually a pistol.

The phone gun - complete with a dummy display - holds four .22 bullets.

It was fully loaded and ready to be used when it was found in Naples. The phone transformed into a gun by sliding the keypad section.

The stubby antenna is the barrel, and a touch on a particular key fires a bullet. A police spokesman said: 'This is the first time such a weapon has been seized and shows the sophistication that the crime syndicates are turning to.

Just be careful when the phone rings - try not to fire it at your date while trying to answer.....

Years ago, I machined a two shot .22 that fit into a Zippo lighter.

There have been cell phone guns for 5-6 years. The older ones looked like the Nokia 5600 series phones.

It’s just more Daily Mail panic mongering.

'This is the first time such a weapon has been seized and shows the sophistication that the crime syndicates are turning to."

No, it shows the inevitable unintended consequences of restrictive gun laws.

That is a nice “point and click interface.” Where can I get one? Do they make a .45 ACP version? Gives a whole new meaning to the phrases “obcene caller,” and “the line’s dead.”

That is the same old tired story that has been going around for years. Anyone that knows anything about guns can tell you that that thing doesnt work. If it fires through the antenna, then it has to be a single shot. Otherwise it fires out through the top. I can imagine Leonardo squeezing one off thinking it is going out the antenna and he hits the wrong button and it goes through the palm of his hand.

Try and buy one, they dont exist, not at any price. This is simply fear mongering.

I thought that media reports on “cell phone guns” were the approved secret muzzie signal to give the go ahead for terrorist attacks.

Everybody lock and load, keep an eye out for jihadis and remember a foxhole without a berm is a grave.

Sky News published the same story.

Fear mongering or not it “seems” to be a real story.

I suppose a gunsmith could put a single-shot weapon into just about any object.

Putting one in a camera is an especially scary thought.

I’m against most gun restrictions but I think it should be illegal to disguise a firearm as any other device.

A .22 is almost useless on anything but squirrels unless you are EXTREMELY lucky shot

Would you settle for a .40?

Wrong!

Back up, regroup, try again.

Wanna prove me wrong and get in the way of my .22’s?

Trust me, it won’t take me a lucky shot.

Really? Volunteer your head for a mythbusters episode to see what damage entails. There are pellet rifles that will kill you DEAD.
