McCain Plans to Run Again (for the Senate)
NY Times ^ | 11/25/08 | Kate Phillips

In his first real news conference since the week following his defeat for the presidency, Senator John McCain emerged today in Phoenix to talk about his own future.

He said he plans to run again in 2010 — it may seem a long time from now for you but so many are already gearing up for the midterm elections that maybe it’s no surprise. The longtime Arizona senator — at age 72 — had already returned to the Senate earlier this month and tried to deflect media inquiries every time he ventured into one of its public hallways.

At his news conference today, he continued to defend his selection of Alaska Gov. Sarah Palin as his running mate, a choice that many top Republicans and their pundits ultimately came to blame for his decline in the polls. While the conservative newcomer was enormously popular at rallies during the fall election season, her lack of foreign policy experience and her inconsistent performances in interviews undercut the Republican presidential ticket for many leading Republican thinkers.

He proudly brags about never bringing home pork to AZ... well that is good for the taxpayers in other states, but not for the taxpayers here in AZ.

Their pork bad, your pork good?

Is it pork when you are being forced by Washington DC to spend money you do not want to spend because they mandated you spend that money? I think not. It is pork when they allocated money to study the sex habits of the titsi fly... certainly you can tell the difference.. the former doesn’t get any funding the latter does. IF a senator doesn’t do anything for the people who elected him, what good is that senator? Either his responsibility to fight the mandate (he didn’t) of fight to help fund that mandate (he didn’t — Kyl did and McCain had it killed)....

BTW you said Nappy wanted Amnesty and McCain doesn't.. the National Standard seems to think he will go for it readily -- and THAT will do him in for re-election, might even drive some state conservatives to rise up against him:

Well we’ll just see...but I’m proud to campaign for him....let me know if you find someone you think is better that wants to run.

I was listening to Hugh Hewitt and he was talking with one of Obama’s immigration groupies....I think it will be blanket amnisty....These people are WAY nuts...they want to make them all citizens tomorrow....no strings...no waiting...no nothing..... I can’t imaging how AZ will cope with that.

He’s a RINO, I am sorry if you feel otherwise, however his voting record speaks for itself. SCREW CONSERVATIVES, and we aren’t fooled..McCain needs to go.

Someone should make a 2008 GOP Deck of Playing Cards-

Jim DeMint- The King of Spades.

McCain-The Duce of Hearts. (or the Joker).

This GOP needs to rid itself of people like this who have disrupted the party for so many years.

Case in point is the earmarking and arrogant Stevens. Although it is a shame it did not occur in the primaries(suspicion is the Dems set up the judgment schedule that way) to get a conservative in Congress, at least we got rid of one RINO who did not know how to control spending.

It will be a long 6 years for Alaskans, but the seat will go back to the GOP after that time.

Let’s get rid of McCain during primaries.

Jim Demint ranked by National Journal as the most conservative United States Senator in their March, 2007 conservative/liberal rankings. He was again ranked as the most conservative Senator in 2008.

I think there are a number of freepers with “McCain Derangement Syndrome”..

McCain Derangement Syndrome is the anti-RINOvirus.

He’s not perfect....but then...who is?

Obama's not perfect either. *snicker* What's your point? Does this mean you'll vote for anyone and anything, even if it's not conservative?

Well...then I’m glad you don’t live in AZ...because the majority of AZ LIKES McCain....so the rest of the country should focus on their own Senators....and let me know when they get Conservative rankings in the 80% range.

".but his position on Israel/abortion/pork spending/the military"

What a joke, you mean the same McCain that voted for the 700+ billion bailout with nothing but pork attached? The same McCain that it took almost a week to come out and support Palin against the RINO's who did their best to slander her?

How about Amnesty for illegals or his personal best, McCain-Finegold? Why don't you and the rest of the RINO supporters start your own Democrat lite party up? The reason we are in the mess we are now is because of folks like you. 2010 will be another ball of wax, we will make sure the RINOs get their walking papers.
