[Texas:]Police: Trooper busted dealing cocaine
The Brownsville Herald ^ | November 24, 2008 | Ildefonso Ortiz

Brownsville police arrested a Texas state trooper on Saturday morning as he aledgely was finishing a drug deal, Brownsville Police Sgt. Jimmy Manrrique said on Monday.

Jesus Rafael Larrazolo, 35, a four-year veteran of the Texas Department of Public Safety, was arrested by police at 10 a.m. in the parking lot of Best Buy as he was loading his car with more than 60 pounds of cocaine after having purchased the drugs in front of police, Manrrique said.

A group of detectives from the Special Investigations Unit were conducting routine surveillance in the Pablo Kisel area, when they noticed suspicious activity in the parking lot of the store located at 2701 Pablo Kisel, Manrrique said.

"We've had a series of automobile burglaries in the area," Manrrique said. "It just happened that they were at the right place at the right time and saw this activity."

The spokesman said detectives noticed Larrazolo exchanging words with an unknown individual, then carry two suitcases toward his vehicle.

As the police officers approached him, the suspect immediately identified himself as a DPS trooper and displayed his credentials.

"He was armed at the time," Manrrique said. Further search of the suitcases led the detectives to 26 bricks of cocaine weighing 61.38 pounds with a trading value of $546,000 and a local per gram street value totaling $1.64 million.

"In this area there is a lot of drug traffic as the drugs make their way north. This is a corridor," Manrrique said. "It is safe to say that this amount would have increased in value if it had gone north. The important thing is we were able to keep these drugs off the streets."

Further details of the incident are not being disclosed because of the ongoing investigation, which law enforcement officers hope will lead to more arrests.

According to a press release from the U.S. Attorney's Office, Larrazolo was being detained without bond until a preliminary examination hearing on Wednesday. If convicted, the suspect faces a minimum of 10 years and a maximum of life.

Gosh, that’s only worth a letter of reprimand if he worked in Aspen, CO (documented in the local press) and that letter would be for working a second job while on duty. Some narrow minded conservatives down south.

I'm sure this was just part of a police investigation.

WWJD?

I bet there’s a whole lot more to this story than anybody will ever say. The very reason Mexicans join state and border-town police departments in the US is so they can be eyes and ears for the cartel. It looks like somebody in the department forgot to fill in Jesus Rafael Larrazolo about an ongoing investigation.

I hope they use the fact of his having displayed his credentials to put this crime “under the color of law” and jack up the prosecution to the max. Armed, dope-dealer cop. What a country!

I support using FISA and covert oversight on our own government officials first before even thinking of using it on the citizens of the US of A.

Unfortunately this is most probably not an isolated case. The Judicial System and government in general are the biggest crooks in America. All lawyers, politicians and anyone in charge that can hinder a person’s freedoms should be polygraphed and put under drugs that prohibit lying twice yearly for questioning. It would amaze American’s what is happening here and now.

Best Buy sells refrigerators. This idiot should have bought a fridge and placed the bricks in the freezer ala William Jefferson and then claim he was holding it for the cops.
No harm, no foul, no jail.... no problem!

If he’s been with the DPS for 4 years you can imagine how many deals he muled before being caught in broad daylight.

Isn't it rich, isn't it... well you know the rest.

"I haven't entered a house of my fathers.

But an alien house.

A house I vow to bring down.

A house I spit on.

A house the whole world hates.

A house, but not a home.

A multicultural society.

Gated of course.

Sometimes with only invisible barriers.

Nonetheless, gated."
