While driving through West Texas on the I20, I was surprised to see a Scottish Motel along the freeway. Was all painted in the colors of Scotland. Talk about a place with plenty of open land, West Texas seems to be a great place to hide. I got some Scottish in me too (50 % Scottish).

There are a lot of Texans with Scots heritage. They are spread out. Quite a few around San Antonio, where they have the Highland Games. Also Houston has a large community ( Saint Thomas Episcopal has a world champion Grade 3 pipe band, under Mike Cussack). Texas has more than a few Scottish Societies.

I was quite surprised.
