For the first time, the world is now hearing from the man seen in the background of Governor Sarah Palin's visit to an Alaskan turkey farm.
Brian Tomes says he was just doing his job and "things happen."
Tomes was going about his gruesome task of slaughtering turkeys as Palin gave a TV interview, talking about her Thanksgiving plans.
The farmhand told INSIDE EDITION he didn't realize he could be seen as Palin was speaking. "I thought they had panned in on her face I did try and block the process," he says.
The video has become a YouTube sensation with more than 2.2 million hits so far.
Tomes has worked at the Triple D Turkey Farm in Palin's hometown of Wasilla, Alaska for the past nine years. He says Palin is being unfairly criticized over the video. "The only thing I can say is, 'Don't mess with my Governor!'"
INSIDE EDITION viewers seemed to agree, sending in e-mails following our coverage of the incident which has ruffled some feathers.
In an e-mail, one INSIDE EDITION viewer said: "It was a turkey farm...of course they butcher them there."
Another said: "Where do you think the turkey you buy at the store comes from?"
I have yet to see the actual “pardoning” or the turkey that was pardoned. If that was shown we would see what the planned event was to look like. This clearly was as Governor Palin was leaving the farm.
Those battle lines are drawn, anyway. The rural/urban split has been evident in voting patterns for a few elections now, and really the suburbs are the turf in play, politicaly.
Just let that bunch of jackasses be jackasses, and she will be fine. Working folks see the nonsense for what it is if they are paying attention at all.
I tend to agree
I tend to agree
I think the whole thing was planned and it was absolutely hilarious. Guaranteed to make every liberal wet his/her pants. A woman who field dresses moose is not going to be the least bit squeamish about killing and butchering turkeys. It was a great way to project her image.
I also thought the whole thing was planned. Of course the liberals I work with could never imagine that such ‘dumb people’ could plan something so funny.
'Don't mess with my Governor!'"
Or maybe those messing with her will go the way of those turkeys.

But you’ll remember. And that’s what counts. She might not be back and who could blame her?But her values sure was a breath of fresh air.Don’t pack it in Sarge,Palin might have been there for someone that will show up in the future.
Seems that you are a sheep by your own definition!
RISE ABOVE, Sir.
I would tend to agree if this were 10 or 20 years ago. Today, there are so many different types of media outlets on which to get a message out—including internet and cable in addition to the traditional ways of network television and the press. Hence, there will be a myriad of opportunities for Palin to reserrect/re-invent herself, IF she decides she wants to try her hand again in the national arena (and we don’t know for sure if that’s what she wants). If she decides to do so, she will need to become as fluent on all national issues as she is on energy policy, she’ll need to travel, and she’ll need to appear frequently on various shows in the future to demonstrate her readiness. The bar has been set low for her, granted, so if she can come across as extremely knowledgeable with a clear plan as to where she’d like to lead this country, and if she can articulate that plan clearly, I believe she has the charisma to attract many new supporters who will see her and think, “gee, I thought she was so stupid-—obviously not-—what was the media feeding us in ‘08?”
So you insult me, and in the next breath, try to cheer me up?
That’s what FReepers usually do.
Just say “thank you for your service” and be on your way.

You just answered your own question, Sally.
The media will simply move the goal posts again, and again, if Sarah dares to poke her nose outside Alaska.
The Sheep have receieved The Word, and The Word sayeth, "Palin is an idiot like Bush". And we all know how we can depend on The Sheep to do what the TV tells them to do.
My father was a turkey farmer. We often had turkey, but rarely fresh-killed — usually they were Jennie-O turkeys my mom bought in the grocery store.
I still love turkey to this day.
Poor Sarah just needs to go away and lay low for a while. These monsters are ruthless and relentless against her. It saddens me to see such a good person demonized the way she is. All you hear day in and day is how stupid she is, how terrible she is and so on and so on. I tired of it and it totally demoralizes me how they have ruined this good and decent woman.
Sarge, thank you for your service. I’ve said it before. I mean it.
And rise above the defeatism. Go read a great military story in the Old Testament books of Joshua or Nehemiah.
The battle is for the mind. To battle stations, man!
That made me sick. Just sick and depressed.
Oh.
My.
God.
I want to cry for our nation. That was one of the most disgusting and demoralizing things I have ever seen as an American.
I no longer repose special trust or confidence in either the patriotism, valor, fidelity, or abilities of The American Sheep.
They have broken faith with their soldiers past and present, and will do so again, and eagerly.
They want Socialism, with all their hearts and minds. I am through with them.
Take heart.
They attempted to ruin her but they failed. What she has experienced is fairly benign in the history of American politics.
Sarah has such innate quality that no one can ruin her but herself.
Plus, I believe God is watching out for her.
Her time will come. She is destined for greatness.
