“People obviously need food.”

The above statement seems to be the point of the whole article. Oh dear, oh dear.......Americans are starving so badly that they have to go out and pick leftover veggies.

Pure propaganda.

I wonder how many of these gleaners were actually church groups or social organizations gathering food as a “food pantry” event.

My community grows sweet potatoes. I have seen several large groups of gleaners come out to hand harvest after the heavy equipment leave. They donate all to food banks. It is a fun day in the country that does good for others. There are organizations that help set up the event and provide boxes and transportation for the produce.

This story is just plain silly. First, I dispute the 40,000 number, and I can't find a crowd shot to verify anything. I did find this story about the event, which points to the idiocy of today's society...

Chris Miller says they expected between 5,000 to 10,000 people to show up Saturday to collect free potatoes, carrots and leeks left in the field after harvesting. Instead, cars snaked around cornfields and backed up more than two miles.

About 30 acres of the 600 acre farm about 37 miles north of Denver became a parking lot.

Some people also left their cars along two nearby Colorado highways to take to the field with sacks, wagons and barrels to harvest the produce.

Just like the Great Depression, only everyone arrives in their own car. How much gas did these idiots waste so they could get $10 worth of free potatoes?

food banks in L.A. area are hurting real bad. We just did scouting for food, they were astounded at what was gathered. I’d like to see it actually help people who are citizens for a change and not illegals. we are up to our armpits with these illegal aliens.
