Thanksgiving is next week, and President Bush could make it a really special holiday by resigning.
Seriously. We have an economy that’s crashing and a vacuum at the top. Bush — who is currently on a trip to Peru to meet with Asian leaders who no longer care what he thinks — hasn’t got the clout, or possibly even the energy, to do anything useful. His most recent contribution to resolving the fiscal crisis was lecturing representatives of the world’s most important economies on the glories of free-market capitalism.
Putting Barack Obama in charge immediately isn’t impossible. Dick Cheney, obviously, would have to quit as well as Bush. In fact, just to be on the safe side, the vice president ought to turn in his resignation first. (We’re desperate, but not crazy.) Then House Speaker Nancy Pelosi would become president until Jan. 20. Obviously, she’d defer to her party’s incoming chief executive, and Barack Obama could begin governing.

Our local paper had a cartoon showing a family at the dinner table on Thanksgiving, and what they’re giving thanks for is that President Bush has only 54 more days in office.

“Winning” the election will never be enough, they will pound and pound and pound away.
And speaking of “plates” (sort of), there was just a commercial on Fox for a plate with Obama’s picture on it. The type to proudly display on one’s mantel.
On one of the coin commercials they describe Obama’s image as “confident” and some other word to elevate him. Gag.
They like it so much better when they make stuff up; so they don’t have to learn what responsibility is all about.
It’s not just because of him, that the economy and the job market are so low, it’s because the rats have the majority. There was nothing wrong with the economy and the unemployment rate was low before the liberals took over in January 2007
I did see that one, too. I sort of reminds me of how some of us Irish Catholics, with my family decidely NOT among them, had pictures on their mantles of JFK right there next to the Pope for years after the assassination.
Bush is President until the Inauguration. These people are way too aggressive. They need to cool it.
How utterly puerile. The New York Times is a very unserious publication if it wastes column space on tripe like this. Surely there is more relevant and incisive commentary available?
