Park Township, MI — The elections are over, the people have spoken (or perhaps more accurately, the people have grumbled) and we no longer have to endure endless political ads.
On a whim, I drove by our local Democratic headquarters yesterday, and to my surprise, I noticed that it was quiet. All the windows were still intact, the cars parked there still had inflated tires, signs hadn’t been defaced, and there was not a single protester marching in front of their door. Weird.
I drove down Eighth Street and was amazed to find that there were no pickets in front of the various eateries that serve Sunday booze. Not one person was reported to have slapped a stein or goblet out of the hands of a drinker and stomped it to powder on the sidewalk. Strange.
It’s too far to drive, but I have seen no reports of pro-life people secretly gaining access to a research center, dressing up as a scientist, and wreaking havoc on their projects.
The same can’t be said of the folks in California who didn’t get their way on Proposition 8. If you’ve been watching the news, you know that this proposal would ban homosexual “marriages” in California. Most observers thought that this proposal would lose by a pretty wide margin. Surprise! The people of California shocked everyone, and now, marriage is still between a man and woman in the state of California. At least until the interminable lawsuits and court challenges wend their way through the Golden State.
This defeat was not taken well by pro-gay marriage forces. They had invested millions in a campaign to defeat this proposal, and they don’t like losing their money. They have specifically attacked the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints for its support of the proposal, and to a lesser degree, blamed African-Americans for not supporting their cause.
The gay rights crowd has long desired to equate their situation with being an oppressed minority, and African-Americans have long resisted being associated with them. One especially repugnant video has two Mormon missionaries barging into a home, harassing its occupants, telling them they have come to take away their rights and then ransacking the house. Now there’s some fair and balanced advertising!
When the proposal passed, there was no careful evaluation of where the gay marriage supporters’ strategy went wrong, no closed-door meetings to figure out why Californians voted to retain traditional marriages. They took to the streets.
More specifically, they attacked their opponents out on the streets. Perhaps you have seen the news reports of gays harassing a counterdemonstrator, an older woman carrying a cross, snatching it from her hands and stomping it to pieces on the street. You didn’t see that? Small wonder, the mainstream media either doesn’t care or is afraid, so they give them a pass on most of their intolerant expressions of outrage.
It might surprise you to learn that this is not a new tactic. Homosexual radicals have long resorted to intimidation, bullying, even violent exhibitions when they don’t get their way. For years, gay pride parades have featured transsexuals dressed as nuns/hookers, Bibles being ripped to pieces publicly, even pages of Scripture used as smoking papers. They have thought nothing of invading churches during their services, and, as recently happened in Lansing, screaming things like “Jesus was a homo,” unfurling banners and rushing the platform to engage in a lesbian makeout session. They also brought video cameras to their little party, hoping to provoke a parishioner or pastor into some kind of response that they can broadcast around the world on the Internet.
I don’t know if they think they can bully their way into changing minds, but extortion is never a good persuasive tactic, not matter what side of the issue you are one. Now remind me once again, who are the intolerant ones?

They should be thankful for the rights they have. Many nations would be much less tolerant.
For lefties, the ends always justify the means.
If it is a “just” cause it doesn’t matter who or what they destroy if it stands in their way. The cause justifies whatever it takes. Their mission serves a higher purpose and all...

You are right on. Should convince some of those misled people who think NAZIism isn’t Socialism. Why some insist that the Nazis were “right wing” is totally beyond me.

They may not have lost the battle in the courts yet but they're losing the battle in the court of public opinion because they don't know how to connect to people who don't agree with them.Claiming that those who believed that marriage is between one man and one woman are bigots really helped things.
The media is ramping up their pro-gay onslaught to hit the airwaves before the trial.
The gays will rally and protest. They have organizational power. What can we do to combat that.
