Witness in Ted Stevens Trial: I Lied WASHINGTON, Nov. 22, 2008(AP) One of the government's witnesses against convicted Sen. Ted Stevens of Alaska says he didn't tell the truth on the stand about an immunity deal with the Justice Department in exchange for his testimony. But federal prosecutors said Friday that his current story is the false one.

"I testified to the fact that there was never immunity for me or my family and friends," welder David Anderson said in a November letter to a federal judge placed in court files by Stevens' lawyers. "That is simply not true."

The Justice Department responded quickly, saying the government never made any agreement of immunity for Anderson or any of his family or friends.

"Mr. Anderson's statement in his November 2008 letter is not true, and the court is aware that it is not true," government lawyers said.

Stevens' lawyers have asked U.S. District Judge Emmet Sullivan to hold a hearing on Anderson's charges and to let them investigate it. It was not immediately known when Sullivan would make a ruling.

The Justice Department had no immediate comment.

My money is on the witness actually being offered immunity/protection but that it was from someone either not authorized to make the offer or the gov’t never intended to make good... all prosecutors are sleazeballs , I don’t trust anything they say...

Do we still have a penalty for perjury? Does anybody ever get convicted of it any more?

Just goes to show how much the socialist demorats will do to get any and all republicans out of office. I still say it’s time to wipe Washington off the map and start anew, figuratively speaking of course.

Ever since Bill Clinton it's more been looked at as a national pastime.

I don’t know whether the guy is innocent or guilty, but where does he go to get his senate seat back? Without this trial, he wins

Well, hey, if the witness himself told the judge there was no immunity deal, why should the prosecutor live up to his word?

They will be too interested in Turkeygate to make that connection.

Do you believe they actually slaughter turkeys at a turkey processing plant? Who'd of thunk it!

You can get convicted for it if your name is Scooter.

See Scooter Libby; he was convicted of lying about a crime that was not committed.

I am certain that his statement is true now (regardless of whether it was in the past...)!!!!

Actually, Libby was convicted of misremembering the facts surrounding a non-crime.

I saw the video and someone would have to tell you what they were doing otherwise it just looked relatively mundane. The way the dude with the turkeys was acting he looked directed. The scene even sort of looked superimposed. You also would think that this close to T-Day they would be knocking em in the head much faster than 2 in several minutes.
Sarah was more or less, “well you gotta kill em to eat em”.
PMSNBC dude will probably have vegan, he did look a little green around the gills.

Yep. Many Alaskans still wonder if Senator Stevens wasn’t somehow setup.
